The first full-pad practice for Ole Miss football this preseason is scheduled for Thursday. But the Rebels on Tuesday returned to the outdoor fields for another multi-hour session in preparation for their 2023 season opener against Mercer September 2.

There was no practice availability for the media on Wednesday.

“Been very competitive out there, been really excited about the energy and focus,” head coach Lane Kiffin said this week. “For those of you following the schedule, we’ve gone with a little bit different schedule than traditional. We do practice a little bit less this way and do a lot more kind of walk-throughs and classroom stuff to take care of their bodies a little more.

“So, that’s why you don’t see quite as much time on the field and number of practices. I thought guys have been really competitive out there. We got, as you know, a ton of new guys which is exciting to see. At the same time, that excitement comes with a lot of work to get them all pieced together.”
