5-Star Linebacker Tyler Atkinson Sets Commitment Date

2026 5-star Lawrenceville (GA) Grayson linebacker Tyler Atkinson is ready to make his college commitment.
Rivals’ No.1 linebacker will make his college decision on Tuesday live on the Pat McAfee Show, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound backer will choose from a top four that features Clemson, Georgia, Oregon and Texas.
Atkinson took official visits to each of his finalists and spoke highly about what he saw from Dan Lanning and the Ducks while he was in Eugene.
“I really don’t have any words to describe the feeling from this visit other than, ‘They really believe in me,” Atkinson told Rivals’ Chad Simmons after the official visit with the Ducks. “The entire visit was an experience from beginning to end. I love the “AtkNup Plan” for me and the love they showed my family.”

Oregon has one linebacker committed in the 2026 class in 4-star Ventura (Calif.) linebacker Tristan Phillips. Linebackers coach Brian Michalowski has been searching for another to pair with Phillips, with Atkinson and 2026 4-star Owings Mills (MD) McDonough linebacker Nick Abrams II being the two top candidates.
Abrams is also set to make his college commitment this week. He’ll make his decision from a top four consisting of Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Oregon on Wednesday July 16. He’s the No. 247 prospect in the Rivals300 ranking, the No. 15 linebacker and the No. 5 player in Maryland.
On Monday, Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for Georgia to land Abrams.
Either way this week shapes up, the Oregon staff will have a lot more clarity about what their haul at the linebacker spot will look like for the 2026 recruiting class.
