Kickoff time announced for Oregon's Week 7 showdown at Washington
Oregon’s season-defining Week 7 showdown at Washington offically has a kickoff time.
On Saturday, it was announced that the No. 8 Ducks’ Oct. 14 trip to Seattle to face the No. 7 Huskies will kick off at 12:30 p.m. PT and air on ABC.
This will mark the first time in the history of the Oregon-Washington rivalry that the two programs have met while both ranked inside the top 10 of the AP Poll.
“Play the game, not the occasion. It’s no different than the other big games that we’ve been a part of,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said Saturday when asked what the game will mean to his team. “We’re gonna be a part of a lot more. It’s about the 20-mile march consistently on Monday. We can’t go out there and march 60 miles. We want to march 20 miles and be consistent in our approach. Find something we can get better at. Aim small, miss small. We’re going to pick small details that we can improve schematically, individually, for each person on our team. And then we’re gonna try to figure out how to take away other team strengths.”
The Ducks (5-0, 2-0) are coming off a 42-6 road win over Stanford, while the Huskies (5-0, 2-0) are coming off a 31-24 road win over Arizona.
Both teams are entering bye weeks.
In its lone top-25 matchup this season, the Ducks trounced Colorado, 42-6, in Eugene to hand the Buffs their first loss of the season.
Last season, No. 25 Washington dealt No. 6 Oregon a 37-34 upset loss at Autzen Stadium on Nov. 12 that knocked the Ducks out of College Football Playoff contention. The year prior, the Ducks notched a 26-16 victory over the Huskies in Seattle.
“I think it’s the most important game because it’s the next one,” Oregon quarterback Bo Nix said Saturday when asked about the significance of the Ducks’ showdown with Washington. “Each game has a life of its own. Each game has to be treated like it’s the Super Bowl. It’s a good thing for us that we can reset with this off week and go into it fresh and ready to go, but I believe they’re in the same boat. It’s going to be an all-out battle, an all-out brawl, especially after last year and especially after how both teams have started this year. I’m extremely excited about it. I know they are too.”
