Oregon Softball Loses WCWS Opener, Faces Ole Miss

Late Thursday night into the wee hours of Friday morning, Oregon continued a delayed opening round vs UCLA. The game was pushed back due to weather, then delayed with some light issues during the contest.
Oregon scored first but UCLA would later double that score and take a 2-1 lead off a Alexis Ramirez homerun. They held on to that lead into the 7th inning until Oregon put Paige Sinicki in scoring position. After a review it was determined there was obstruction to the runner (Sinicki) from scoring and the Ducks evened things up into the bottom of the 7th inning.

Unfortunately for Oregon, UCLA’s Jessica Clements was able to send a 2-run homer into the stands to end the game.
Now the Ducks have one last shot to continue their run through the WCWS. It means Oregon will face Ole Miss Friday night at 6:30 PM PST. The game is set to air on ESPN.
Ole Miss also faces elimination after losing to Texas Tech in its opener.
