Demetrice Martin has struck gold once more at Oregon. This time stretching his arms to the far coast of the country.

St. Frances Academy (Md.) cornerback Ify Obidwegu has committed to Oregon on Sunday. The 6-foot, 190-pounder is one of the top corners in the country. Obidwegu checks in as the No. 13 ranked corner nationally and the No. 92 player overall in the On3 Industry Rankings.

The Ducks were able to beat out Penn State, Maryland, USC, Tennessee Ohio State and others for the four-star.

Obidwegu told On3’s Hayes Fawcett his relationship with coach Meat was a big reason why he picked Oregon.

“Ultimately what stood out to me is that Oregon is a school where I can achieve my dreams on and off the field. Coach Meat and coach Tosh have built a good defense in Oregon and I know that I can do very great things at Oregon. Also, coach Lanning and the rest of the staff has treated me and my family with much love and it is unlike no other. Coach Meat and I have built a great relationship and I have trust in that man 100% that he will get me where I want to be and that is the NFL. Oregon has also been a dream school of mine growing up and it is so surreal that this is all happening.”

Oregon now has 11 commits in the 2024 recruiting class. Obidwegu is the second commit in the secondary joining safety Aaron Flowers from Texas.

Obidwegu is a huge piece for Oregon in this recruiting class. Additionally Will Stein and Oregon are recruiting his teammate, quarterback Michael Van Buren. The Ducks are currently considered the team to beat for Van Buren.
