Penn State news, notes, and updates for March 25 include a new extended NFL mock draft that contains good news for former Lions, headlines of the day, and more.

It’s time to dive into Sunday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with a new four-round NFL mock draft from NFL.com analyst Chad Reuter. In his opinion, Penn State could have five former players go during the first four rounds of this year’s seven-round selection process. And, he has two of them going in the top 20. He sends tackle Olu Fashanu to the Saints at No. 14, which is an industry consensus spot at this point. But, he veers from his peers by sending Chop Robinson to Jacksonville with the 17th overall selection.

“Tagging Josh Allen keeps him and Travon Walker in place for 2024,” Reuter writes. “Robinson takes over the departed K’Lavon Chaisson ‘s designated pass rusher role (with Walker moving inside when necessary) and has the potential to take over for Allen in 2025 if the veteran departs in free agency.”

As for the rest of the former Nittany Lions, Reuter has edge rusher Adisa Isaac off the board next as a second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 57 overall. In Round 3, he sends tight end Theo Johnson to the Bucs, as well, with the No. 89 overall selection. And, in Round 4, Reuter has linebacker Curtis Jacobs landing with the defending Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, with the No. 131 overall selection.

Quote of the day

“Just going to be ready for next year. That’s what we do. We always think ahead preparing for the future. We’ll be back in the room on Monday. We love what we do, we love to train. We love the sport of wrestling. Happy for the guys. Obviously I say this every time but your heart and your mind, you just kind of expect to win and you believe and expect that your guys are going to win. So it’s the ones that don’t quite reach their goal that occupy your mind and your heart.

“I thought in the Finals, all of our guys wrestled really well. Bartlett wrestled really well. Just didn’t work out at the end. And Mesenbrink, he’s such a beast and wrestled really well. They had great tournaments. All the way through our lineup. So, we’re happy and we’ll just keep working.”
