Penn State has one of its top quarterback targets on campus for the weekend. Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School signal-caller Luke Kromenhoek is spending Easter weekend in Happy Valley. BWI reported on the trip upon his arrival on Friday

Kromenhoek has been committed to Florida State for over a year, but the Nittany Lions have been persistent in their pursuit. Penn State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich offered last spring after watching him throw in person in Georgia. Yurcich and James Franklin went to watch him play in a game last fall and returned in January to watch him play basketball. Kromenhoek attended the Nittany Lions’ White Out win over Minnesota in October.

“They had me call them after I threw for them and that’s when Coach Yurcich offered me,” Kromenhoek told BWI in January. “The following days, they had me FaceTime with coach [James] Franklin and my parents and that went well. Really, we’ve been talking ever since, although I’d say it picked up more after September.

“They’ve come down a few times to see me, too. Coach Franklin came down to see a game in the middle of the year, and then coach Yurcich came down to see me play my final four playoff game and the state championship game. Coach Yurcich reaches out pretty much every week now.”

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound junior recently noted that he remains solid with the Seminoles, but he has also visited Florida since he committed in March of 2022. He is the No. 106 overall prospect in the Class of 2024 and the No. 9 quarterback nationally according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s ranked by On3 as the No. 59 player in the class and the No. 5 quarterback in the country.

Kromenhoek is one of three quarterbacks already invited to the Elite 11 Finals this summer, joining Alabama commit Julian Saying and Florida three-star Trever Jackson. Kromenhoek was one of the top performers at the Orlando Elite 11 Regional last weekend.

More from On3 on Kromenhoek:

In his first two seasons at Benedictine Military School, an all-boys Catholic military school in Savannah, Georgia, Luke Kromenhoek never started at quarterback and mostly played wide receiver, safety and special teams. Yet, he was still impressive enough in a camp setting that he received his first Division I offer – from Florida State – in June 2021. Those that believed in Kromenhoek were rewarded. He developed in 2022 into one of the nation’s top quarterback prospects after throwing for 2,576 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing 65% of his passes. “His arm talent is as good as I’ve ever seen,” Benedictine coach Danny Britt told the Tallahassee Democrat. “He can throw the ball so easily. And at 50, 60 yards, so easily. He can release it at multiple angles and can release it very quickly. Then you mix in the size, the physical ability. He can move, he can throw on the move and then can really run well. So, all of that combined, and then you add the mental toughness, he’s a special talent.” Away from football, Kromenhoek enjoys playing Madden and listening to Bob Marley. His favorite food is Italian. His parents are Alison and Jon Kromenhoek.
