Penn State-Michigan was a viewership hit for the ABC/ESPN family of networks.

It’s one of the notes in today’s newsstand. It also includes the latest from James Franklin, another Senior Bowl note, and much more.

Let’s review the top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college football as a whole on Nov. 17.

Penn State tweets of the day

According to ESPN, the Wolverines’ 21-17 triumph over the Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium was viewed by 5.9 million viewers. That’s a 2021 Noon-game record for the company, it said in a press release.

Drew Allar was one of On3’s top performers from last week. The four-star quarterback finished a playoff win with 30 completions on 54 attempts for 386 yards and three touchdowns.

“Allar’s progression as a passer throughout his senior season has been impressive,” On3 scouting director Charles Powers writes. “He’s obviously benefited from a ton of live, in-game reps as a passer. Medina runs a wide-open scheme where he is typically in an empty set.

“This setup has forced Allar to hone some playmaking pathways in addition to his intermediate passing. We regularly see Allar use his top shelf arm talent to fit the ball into tight windows over the middle of the field.”

In current team news, Arnold Ebiketie is the latest Lion to accept a Senior Bowl invite. Jaquan Brisker and  Jesse Luketa have, as well.

Quote of the day

“Everything’s kind of changed obviously with the COVID deal. We had a number of guys that took part in the senior ceremony last year and then still decided to come back.

“So, I think our staff, as well as the players, understand some guys may not walk with the intention of coming back. Some guys may walk and still haven’t made that decision yet until we sit down after the season and decide. So, it’s very different.”
