BREAKING: 4-star RB Rickey Stewart commits to SMU

SMU landed yet another huge 2025 commitment. On Sunday, Tyler (Tex.) Chapel Hill running back Rickey Stewart, Jr. committed to the Mustangs, he announced.
Stewart held 18 offers before making his commitment, including ones from Arkansas, Baylor, Michigan, Ole Miss, and TCU. He told On3 one school led the way in Stewart’s recruitment, Alabama.
SMU changed that with yet another visit and landed its second pledge of the 2025 class. Stewart joins his teammate, four-star athlete Demetrius Brisbon, who committed last week.
SMU started to trend for the highly-touted prospect after multiple spring visit. The Mustangs started to make their move in April. Running backs coach Khenon Hall, safeties coach Kyle Cooper and others were key in landing him.
“I thought it was good,” Stewart told On3 of his SMU visit. “I enjoyed it. I liked the campus and how they treat each other like a family. I like how they’re willing to make me a future Mustang and how they believe in me at the age I’m at now.
