Hutchinson C.C. wide receiver Cortez Braham announced on Monday that he’s committed to West Virginia, giving the Mountaineers a talented wideout to come into Neal Brown’s program.

The Mustangs hosted the Blythewood, S.C. native for an official visit after West Virginia did earlier this month. He held offers from Colorado State, Miami (Ohio), UNLV and others.

The 6-2, 192-pound prospect caught 32 passes for 723 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2021 in 10 games. In 2020, he notched 19 receptions for 429 yards and five scores.

While Braham didn’t come SMU’s way, a pair of wideouts are coming in former Texas wide receiver Joshua Moore and former North Carolina wide receiver Beau Corrales. Moore will arrive in June and Corrales enrolled this spring after signing with SMU during the early signing period.

SMU also reeled in eight early signees for the class of 2022 in Duncanville (Tex.) safety Pierre Goree, McKinney North (Tex.) defensive lineman Dylan Frazier, Washington (D.C.) St. John’s EDGE Isaiah Smith, Tatum (Tex.) EDGE Trey Fite, Lucas (Tex.) Lovejoy cornerback Jayden Lawton, Dallas (Tex.) South Oak Cliff quarterback Kevin Henry-Jennings, Arlington (Tex.) offensive lineman Jacob Waller and College Station (Tex.) A&M Consolidated offensive lineman Rhett Larson.

On the transfer front, SMU also added Minnesota linebacker Jaqwondis Burns, Illinois State linebacker Shanon Reid, Michigan State tight end Kameron Allen and Virginia offensive lineman Joseph Bissinger.

National Signing Day is Wednesday with plenty of prospects left to make decisions, which could affect the final 2022 Consensus Football Team Recruiting Rankings.
