Jennings rolled across his body and delivered another dime to tight end Matthew Hibner, who plucked the ball with one hand, and took it 22 yards for the touchdown. SMU now holds its largest lead of the game, 29-17 with 11:55 remaining in regulation.

End of third quarter: SMU 23, Clemson 17

10/18/2025 05:04:45 PM

The bulk of the third quarter came on a 17 play, 65-yard drive from Clemson that ended with the Tiger settling for three in the red zone. SMU has the ball to start the fourth quarter with a 23-17 lead.

SMU with a HUGE answer

The Mustangs methodically march down the field and find the end zone. A four-play 75-yard drive was capped off by a 35-yard rushing touchdown by Derrick McFall. McFall has now found the end zone in three-straight games. His emergence has been created, in part, by his newly discovered role as a “gadget” guy since the start of ACC play. SMU leads 23-14 with 7:28 remaining in the third quarter.

Clemson within two

Vizzina hit TJ Moore again for another explosive touchdown. This time, Moore makes an incredible one-hand snag to reel in the throw and take it 62 yards to the house. The SMU offense must come up with a drive here, as the Mustangs only lead 16-14, with 8:48 remaining in the third quarter.

Halftime: SMU 16, Clemson 7

10/18/2025 04:05:44 PM

Sam Keltner tacked on another 48-yard field goal before the half ended. The Mustang defense played extremely well in that first half, holding Clemson to just 147 total yards. SMU leads by two possessions and will receive the kickoff to start the second half.

Keltner nails another long kick

After making a 51-yard field goal in the beginning of the second quarter, Kelnter nails a 48-yard field goal. SMU leads 13-7 with 4:29 remaining in the second quarter. Jennings is clearly playing through a ton of pain in his ankle, while Jordan Hudson got injured while standing on the sidelines on the last drive. The Mustangs overcoming a lot internally as they will try to head into the locker room at the half with the lead.

Clemson answers

The Tigers put together a nice, six play, 75-yard drive drive to cut into the SMU lead. Early in the drive, Chris Vizzina looked for wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. for what would’ve been a walk-in touchdown, had Wesco not dropped the pass. Vizzina went right back to the deep ball a couple plays later, connecting with TJ Moore for a 32-yard touchdown. SMU leads, 10-7 with 8:51 left in the half.

Keltner drills a 51-yard kick

SMU started the second quarter with a positive drive that took 4:34 off the clock and ended with kicker Sam Keltner nailing a 51-yard field goal. SMU extents its lead, 10-0, with 11:26 remaining in the second quarter.

End of 1st quarter: SMU 7, Clemson 0

10/18/2025 03:16:46 PM

The SMU defense is all over Clemson so far. At the end of the quarter, SMU has forced a Clemson fumble, recorded two TFLs and three three-and-outs. A great start to the game for the defense. On offense, outside of Jennings connecting with Hudson for the 70-yard touchdown, the Mustangs are struggling to get the ball moving. SMU has the ball to start the second quarter.

SMU strikes first

10/18/2025 03:04:55 PM

After the SMU defense came up with a huge stop in third and short, Kevin Jennings dropped a dime to Jordan Hudson downfield, who did the rest, taking the catch 70 yards for the score! SMU now leads 7-0 with 3:52 remaining in the first quarter.

Both offenses forced to punt on first drive

10/18/2025 02:45:08 PM

The SMU defense did a nice job tackling on the opening drive, containing Clemson quarterback Chris Vizzina and forcing the Tigers to punt. The SMU offense picked up a first down, but a false start on the next set of downs slowed down the offense, leading to Kevin Jennings being sacked on third down. Clemson will take over at its own 33-yard line with 8:38 left in the first quarter.

SMU travels to Clemson for a rematch of last year’s ACC Championship. The Mustangs are set to kickoff against the Tigers at 2:30 CT on ACC Network.

Big news broke early this morning regarding the health of Clemson starting quarterback Cade Klubnik: Clemson will start Christopher Vizzina at quarterback vs. SMU on Saturday instead of Cade Klubnik, who will see his 34-game starting streak snapped. Klubnik lead the Tigers to the ACC Championship win last December against the Mustangs.

Now, a relative unknown is set to start in a massive matchup for both team’s hopes to be in the ACC Championship race. Vizzina played one snap in the first four games before seeing more time over the past two Clemson wins.
