SMU offers Utah State transfer DE Daniel Grzesiak

Utah State Aggies edge rusher Daniel Grzesiak entered the NCAA transfer portal on Thursday, per On3’s Matt Zenitz. SMU quickly made the move and offered the 6-1, 245-pound defensive end.

Indiana, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Missouri and others have also offered him.

He previously transferred for the 2022 season to Utah State from Nevada after four seasons with the Wolfpack.

In 2022, Grzesiak had 52 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for the Aggies. He has 92 total tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss and 16 career sacks, including his time with Nevada.

Daniel Grzesiak played high school football at Crenshaw (California), where he was an unranked recruit in the 2018 cycle.

SMU active in the transfer portal once again

Texas A&M transfer running back LJ Johnson, Liberty transfer linebacker Ahmad Walker, Fresno State transfer defensive back Cale Sanders, Missouri transfer offensive lineman Hyrin White, Miami transfers Key’Shawn SmithJordan MillerElijah RobertsJaylan Knighton, West Virginia transfer defensive back Charles Woods and Stanford defensive back Jonathan McGill are the current transfer commits for SMU.

With strong NIL collectives, SMU was able to circle the wagons and bring in numerous transfers that should contribute right away.

“That’s the way it is now,” SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee said before the New Mexico Bowl. “You want your players here and players coming in to get anything and everything they can get. Fortunately for us here, we’ve got several groups, collectives that are pretty supportive.

“You’re looking around the country, that’s the way it is. If you have it, you have a chance. If you don’t, you don’t. Fortunately at SMU, I think we have it.”
