GARNET TRUST | South Carolina graduate-assistant-turned-quarterback-and-now-turned-graduate-assistant-again Zeb Noland just completed one of the most unique seasons in the history of college football.

Noland’s story is now well known.

The Watkinsville, Ga. native started his career at Iowa State before transferring to North Dakota State where he took what he believed was his last snap before joining South Carolina football as a graduate assistant.

But with one final year of eligibility remaining, the Gamecocks activated Noland midway through fall camp following the injury to Luke Doty.

The Oconee County High School graduate started six games this past season for Carolina and came off the bench to lead them to a victory in the waning seconds in a seventh against Vanderbilt.

Noland went 53 of 95 for 690 yards and seven touchdowns with one interception in his lone season with the Gamecocks.

“What a career, with so many memories at every stop!,” Noland said in a Tweet following the Gamecocks’ Mayo Bowl win over North Carolina. “To my final ride with Gamecock Nation I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Most importantly to every teammate at every school you know I love you guys, thank you! Colonel out!”

Noland, who has now transitioned back to being a graduate assistant, this time with the quarterbacks, discusses his unique journey from coaching, back to the field, to coaching again in this exclusive Garnet Trust interview below – Presented by 360clean.
