How it Happened: Tennessee drills Alabama A&M 20-2 in run-rule effort

Tennessee cruised in midweek play this week, blasting Alabama A&M in the seven-inning run-rule contest that ended with the 20-2 final score.

The Vols (27-6) poured it on for 20 runs on 12 hits in the ballgame while the Bulldogs (5-26) managed only two runs off four hits in the ballgame. Tennessee threw seven different pitchers in the win and sent every starter to the bench by the third inning of play.

JJ Garcia (1-0) earned his first career win on the mound as the pitched a clean second inning with two strikeouts. Alabama A&M starter Roman Sorrell (0-4) is charged with the loss after allowing five runs off two hits in two innings of work.  

Tennessee returns to Lindsey Nelson Stadium this weekend to host the defending national champion LSU Tigers, but first, here’s how it all went down for the Big Orange on a Tuesday night.
