Vol Club Confidential Christian Moore I Episode 22 I Season 2

Tennessee junior infielder Christian Moore is arguably the most important player on Tennessee’s baseball team this spring. He joined Vol Club Confidential presented by Knoxville Smiles to discuss his career on Rocky Top.

“It’s been fun,” Moore said. “Being here in Knoxville and playing in front of these fans each and every day. It’s definitely been a dream come true for me. Even when I started college my freshman year I didn’t really understand the game and the things I’ve learned over the last couple of years definitely helped me. I love winning and I think coming to Tennessee was the right place because we love to win.”

Moore has been terrific in his first two seasons in Knoxville and arguably one of the Vols’ best hitters – registering a .304 average as a sophomore with 17 home runs and 50 RBI while stealing 16 bags and scoring 66 runs as an everyday starter. Moore spent time with USA Baseball this summer and was really, really good in postseason play for the Vols last summer. He carries himself with a swagger and it comes from his upbringing.

“I think growing up in New York and having that swagger with you,” Moore said. “It’s something that Tony V and I have talked about from my freshman year to never lose that swag. Do what you do that got you here and be your own person on and off the field. I think that’s something I take pride in walking up there with a lot of confidence and playing the game the way I do.”

Moore has played both shortstop and second base this spring. He has also become the lead off batter for a team that is 7-1 on the young season.

“I grew up playing shortstop so going back over there was second nature,” Moore said. “Just getting the rust off. I don’t think it matters playing either one because the player I am and how vocal I am.”
