2024 Willis (Tex.) High four-star quarterback DJ Lagway, the No. 3 prospect and No.2 quarterback nationally in the On3 Consensus, made a quick evening stop through Texas A&M’s football facilities on Wednesday night.

Lagway was in town to see his cousins, Texas State softball player Samara Lagway, as the Bobcats were taking on Texas A&M in College Station.

Lagway had already been to Texas A&M four times on unofficial visits prior to Wednesday. The midweek visit was Lagway’s second visit in three months, as the four-star last stopped through College Station in January during the Aggies’ junior day festivities.

“I really like Texas A&M a lot right now,” Lagway previously told On3’s Chad Simmons. “They are definitely one of my top schools. It is a family atmosphere there, they show a lot of love, and I like it there a lot.”

During the 2021 season, Lagway accumulated 1,579 yards passing, 715 yards rushing, and 23 total touchdowns, emerging as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 cycle.

The four-star visited LSU and Houston earlier this month and made a visit to Alabama ahead of the February dead period, where he earned an offer from Nick Saban himself.

“It’s not what I was expecting it to be like,” Lagway laughingly told On3’s Chad Simmons. “It was really neat to talk with him. Coach Saban was easy to talk to, he was real cool, and it went really well. … Talking to him, getting the Alabama offer, and hearing what he had to say about me, Alabama, and all that was a real highlight.”

Lagway holds 19 offers to date with LSU, Alabama, Georgia standing out early, along with the aforementioned Aggies. He’s set to visit Florida later this month, with plans to return to visit Georgia, and make a return trip to Alabama in April. He noted to On3’s Mike Singer that Clemson is a likely stop during the spring as well.

Texas A&M holds an early lead in the four-star’s recruitment per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 72.5% chance to land the sophomore’s talent.

Lagway ranks as the No. 3 prospect and No.2 quarterback nationally in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is not yet rated per the On300, but holds a 90 grade early on. Despite only being a sophomore, Lagway already possesses an On3 NIL Valuation of $9,000. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date; it rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
