Inside the Trojans' Huddle: Matt Leinart joins to talk USC - Notre Dame
Former USC quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart joined Inside the Trojans’ Huddle this week to talk all things past, present and future regarding the USC – Notre Dame rivalry.
Leinart is teaming up with Abbott and the Big Ten Conference for the second season of “The We Give Blood Drive,” which puts the 18 conference schools against each other, with the winning school receiving $1 million from Abbott to advance student and community health initiatives. People can sign up to donate blood for their school at BigTen.Org/Abbott. USC is currently lagging well behind the leader in Wisconsin and could use a rush of donors before the end of the contest, on December 5. The drive has already surpassed last year’s donation total in just the first month of the season, with nearly 40,000 blood donations.
As far as the USC – Notre Dame rivalry, Leinart spoke about the importance of keeping the game going and his belief that the series will continue despite some talk that it could end. His take is that only the timing of the game — and not whether it is played at all — should be up for discussion.

Leinart went in-depth on this edition of the matchup and what is waiting for the Trojans in a very talented and dangerous Notre Dame team.
He spoke, too, about his playing days with the Trojans. This year’s USC – Notre Dame game marks 20 years since the iconic clash of 2005, which ended with USC winning an absolute thriller on a Leinart quarterback sneak. He spoke about the hidden play in that game that stands out the most to him, and some comments from Pete Carroll about the Trojans’ overall performance in that game.
