USC blows out Georgia Southern to move to 2-0

USC running back King Miller gets loose again and hits a 41-yard touchdown. It’s his second touchdown of the season after going 75 yards in Week 1. It’s 59-20 USC with 10:24 remaining in the game.

USC running back Eli Sanders goes in again for a short touchdown run as USC pushes its lead to 52-20 with 12:55 remaining in the game. Sanders now has eight carries for 52 yards and two touchdowns.

After five-straight drives with no points, Georgia Southern puts together a 15-play, 81-yard drive that ends with a 13-yard touchdown pass. USC’s lead is cut to 45-20 with 1:39 remaining in the third quarter.

USC stretches its lead to 45-13 with 7:58 remaining in the third quarter as Eli Sanders punches in a one-yard score.

Running back Waymond Jordan starts on the left hash and waves all the way to the right sideline before diving over the goal line for a 36-yard touchdown. It’s 38-13 USC with 10:49 left in the third quarter. Jordan has rushed 15 times for 132 yards and a score, averaging 8.8 yards per carry.

The Trojans got a little lucky when Georgia Southern dropped a potential fourth-down conversion. But USC comes back the length of the field and scores on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Maiava to Walker Lyons. It’s 31-13 with 3:31 remaining in the first half.

Kicker Ryon Sayeri connects on a 26-yard field goal and the Trojans push their lead to 24-13 with 8:52 remaining in the first half.

The Eagles get back into the game with a 24-yard touchdown pass from JC French to Camden Brown. It’s 21-13 USC with 11:32 remaining in the first half.

USC is forced to punt for the first time this season as a 3rd-and-15 pass falls incomplete on the final snap of the first quarter. The Trojans lead 21-3 and will be punting from their 29-yard line to open the second quarter.

After Anthony Lucas recorded his first sack, cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson has now recorded his first interception. That sets the Trojans up at their 15-yard line with 1:15 remaining still in the first quarter.

Makai Lemon gets on the end of a perfectly-thrown pass from Jayden Maiava and scoots down the sideline for a 74-yard touchdown. It’s 21-6 USC with 2:14 remaining in the first quarter. Lemaon has four receptions for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter.

Anthony Lucas picks up a big sack on third down and it’s the first of his college career. The Trojans force another punt and take over at their own 15-yard line with 3:17 remaining in the first quarter.

Makai Lemon catches a comeback and does the rest himself, breaking a tackle and sprinting 62 yards for a touchdown. That’s USC’s 4th offensive play of 60 yards or more this season and they haven’t played five quarters of football yet. It’s 14-6 USC with 6:53 remaining in the first quarter.

Ja’Kobi Lane goes up with one hand to pull in a 12-yard touchdown pass over a Georgia Southern defensive back who was flagged for pass interference. Add it to the highlight reel for Lane, who makes the spectacular look routine. It’s 7-6 USC with 8:50 remaining in the first quarter.

Based on pregame warmups, USC is going to make a change at right guard in the starting lineup as Micah Banuelos is working with the starters in place of Alani Noa.

A few big names spotted so far include five-star tight end Mark Bowman, five-star tackle Keenyi Pepe, four-star defensive tackle TomTom Topui, four-star offensive tackle Vlad Dyakonov and others.

With the Houston Texans in town to take on the Los Angeles Rams tomorrow, defensive backs Calen Bullock and Jaylin Smith, and running back Woody Marks are here and on the field during warmups.
