Top Local Tight End Locks in Two Official Visits, Eyes Local Program for Unofficial

Three-star tight end Keawe Browne from Corona (CA) Centennial was all set to play for Texas in 2026, but both sides parted ways in recent weeks. Browne’s recruitment reopened late last month and now some top teams are making a big impression again.
Sources told Inside Texas that Browne had a great official visit earlier this summer and was trending toward a possible commitment. Predictions were in place for Texas, but Browne never went public with his decision. The Longhorns asked him to postpone an announcement while they sorted out roster numbers for the 2026 class and navigated NIL structures.
Browne honored that process but ultimately decided to move on and pursue other opportunities.
“I appreciate the staff at Texas for offering me and bringing my family on an official visit this summer,” Browne wrote in a statement posted on social media. “However, with recent changes in my recruitment and further interest from other universities, my family and those close to me believe it is in my best interest to re-open my recruiting. I will be moving on from the University of Texas.”
Browne saw his recruitment take off in recent months, with USC, Auburn, Cal, UCLA, Boise State and Sacramento State getting involved over the last few weeks. He also reached out to Washington, Stanford and San Jose State.
Now that he’s back on the market, Browne’s going into the season with an open mind again.
“I’m going into the season with my recruiting fully open,” Browne said. I’m going to take some official visits. I’m going to try to do three or four of them and we’ll see where that takes me. As for committing, I’m not sure because I have to go to all the schools.”

Plans could change but Browne is locked in for official visit to USC on September 20 when the Trojans face Michigan and September 27 for Boise State. Although UCLA won’t be hosting official visitors during the season, Browne told WeAreSC he will hit up one of the Bruins’ home games for an unofficial visit.
Browne, who’ll enroll in college in January, has visited USC multiple times this year and his main contacts are Chad Savage and Max Stienecker. He shared a few reasons why the Trojans are among the top options.
“I’ve been interested and like I said before, I like what they’re doing with the program,” Browne said. “Getting all the high school guys, people from L.A. County and Southern California in general. Just bringing them all together and being able to play in their backyard. They didn’t mention a single tight end position they’re looking at me for. They’re kinda waiting till they see what my body grows into.”
