USC signee Trent Perry is coming in as the top-ranked prospect in the Trojans’ 2024 signing class and on Friday he added another accolade to his high school resume.

Perry was named the 2023-24 California MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-4 guard helped Harvard-Westlake to a 33-3 season and a second-straight Open Division state championship. Perry averaged 18.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. He shot 55% from the field, 47% from three-point range and 86% from the line.

Perry was tremendous in the championship game, scoring 17 points overall and the final six in what was a 50-45 win. The final 1:17 of the game featured a Perry bucket to give his team the lead, another bucket with 26 second left to push it to three, and free throws with less than 10 seconds remaining to ice the game. He also came up with a defensive steal in the final minute.

Perry’s playoff run included games with 28 and 42 points.

In his four years at Harvard-Westlake, the program won 108 games.

Perry is headed to USC as a four-star prospect and the No. 31 overall recruit in the 2024 On3 Rankings. He’s joined by four-star prospects in forward Brody Kozlowski and guard Liam Campbell. Perry could be an immediate contributor at USC considering the Trojans will lose Boogie Ellis and could see fellow point guard Isaiah Collier declare for the NBA Draft.
