Why exactly is this bad news for me, JHP? I've posted my views on the border more than once. I support border enforcement and law and order just like you. I just don't live in a constant state of fear. Look at my threads...music, avatars, funny memes, "Could You Live Here?", and a 10-part series on policy. Not a single fear post.
Now, about this particular case...
Belgal has a criminal record. He pleaded guilty to grand larceny and he has a pending drug-sale case. DHS alleges gang ties and says he rammed ICE vehicles. Um...okay. If the evidence establishes he deliberately tried to ram officers or their vehicles, then hold him accountable, right?
But the public reporting
so far says the car moved forward as plainclothes officers approached, one with his gun drawn, and an officer fired seven rounds. The actual shooting wasn't captured by the NYPD camera, and the investigation is ongoing. "Tried running the agent over" hasn't been established yet. If it does, see above.
Having a criminal record doesn't automatically justify a shooting just like questioning the circumstances of a shooting doesn't mean someone opposes immigration enforcement. Why do you force yourself into binary situations, man?
I support enforcing the law. I support holding criminals accountable. I also support getting the facts before deciding what happened.
So again...explain why this is bad news for me. Because I'm not panicking over every headline? Because I don't make immigration or trans issues the center of every conversation? I can support law and order without living in fear.
Regardless, I appreciate you tagging me...so I can wish you a great weekend. I enjoyed taking my son to a Spurs game last night and came home in the 4th qtr to watch my Bucs beat the terrible Jerry Joneses. Looking forward to watching FSU beat Louisville tonight (ya right, who am I kidding). Any plans this weekend?
