    Just enjoying the moment

    Actually, it wasn't pouring rain until a brief shower at the end of the game and the temperature was rather pleasant. And Colorado did threaten to make it a game with their third quarter TD but the Cats answered right back and that was the ballgame.

    ND-Wisconsin

    I miss playing Wisconsin every year. It had developed into a great rivalry, like Illinois (and probably Iowa since the Barnett years), but now we are playing Maryland, Rutgers and the west coast schools instead. Oh well....I guess I'm just an old fogey.

    I often see the team running the lakefront in the afternoon. Didn't know they were doing so well.

    Buffs win

    GT started Mendoza's brother at qb. He hardly played at Indiana last year and his inexperience showed, but Colorado has plenty of good athletes (no surprise, given who is the coach). Should be a tight game. Just hope we are 1-0 going into it!

    Rutgers looks bad

    And back in 1955, Miami of Ohio came into Evanston and beat the Cats 25-14 in their opener. The next year, Northwestern hired their young coach, Ara Parseghian! Anything can happen.

    Field Hockey

    Nice crowd for the Sunday game. I caught part of the second half and saw the only goal , a tip-in by the Cats. I noticed later they outshot Lafayette by 13 to 1.

    Fighting a summer air conditioning cold so spending way too much time this past week surfing but I found this which I think is cool

    Fitz fired anniversary

    If Schill had issued a serious suspension that included some games, I think this would have all blown over, but he didn't, ,and when Fitz found out about the investigation that [previous fall, he didn't seem to have paid it the attention he should have. Unfortunately, the result was a disaster...

    Congrats Cats! (But weird to get all of the iffy calls)

    Bottom line: NU won by three goals ,UNC was scoreless in the final quarter. AND, NU beat them in Carolina to earn the one seed a month ago. UNC fans were rooting hard for Johns Hopkins at the semi I attended and there was a reason for that. Blaming the refs is WEAK.

    How about a D1 hockey program

    With the Blackhawks and Wolves well established in this town, there is no way a college hockey team can succeed here. Omaha, on the other hand, has no pro competition. UIC tried a hockey team 40 years ago (before the Wolves) and could not make a go of it.

    Drohan needs to fix the pitching situation, You can't just rely on one pitcher. Mason must be gassed after all the innings she has thrown. At least it looked that way in this game,.
