Elijah Fisher

will remain temporarily eligible
to play his fifth year for Seton Hall Men's Basketball as the highly anticipated September 29, 2026 court hearing concluded without a definitive ruling, continuing his case to October 20.

The September 29 Hearing:

The Santa Clara County Superior Court in California held a preliminary injunction hearing for the antitrust lawsuit, Glancey v. NCAA. However, the court ran out of time to hear testimony from all scheduled witnesses and continued the hearing to October 20, 2026. [1]

  • Current Status: Because the judge did not issue a new signed order or formal ruling, Fisher's existing temporary restraining order (TRO) remains in full effect. He is permitted to keep practicing and preparing for the upcoming season with the Pirates. [1, 2, 3]
  • Next Legal Hurdles: The case will resume on October 20, and another major hearing is currently on the docket for December 3, 2026, either of which could ultimately alter his eligibility status for the remainder of the 2026–27 season.

I hope he’s eligible because we need him. But I think it’s a long shot. The NCAA is determined to fight these cases to the bitter end. One positive is that the case is in California.

So, he is going to practice with the team.....play a half dozen games or so....then potentially have his eligibility rescinded on December 3rd? Yikes.

Seton Hall is better with Fisher on the roster but not by much and compared to other P4 leagues, the Big East as a whole benefits if the NCAA wins their cases.

In general, most Big East teams have taken the conservative route with 5th year players and former pros with eligibility issues. St.John's is the biggest outlier but for the most part it seems the Big East would be in a better position if the NCAA wins their eligibility battles.

EvanMiya ranks teams based on currently eligible players only and if non-eligible rostered players gain eligibility.

St.John's has the most to lose or gain. Ranked #11 with their ineligible players, #34 without them. Georgetown would drop 11 spots if eligibility decisions go against them. Everyone else in the league drops or stays the same if the NCAA loses their cases.

I thought Providence would gain with Dink Pate and Joseph Pinion but they show them dropping 5 spots. Head-scratcher.

Rank / Rank including ineligible players
#5 - UConn (6)
#25 - Nova (30)
#30 - Marquette (31)
#34 - St.John's (11)
#40 - Creighton (43)
#48 - Providence (53)
#56 - Xavier (61)
#74 - Georgetown (63)
#76 - DePaul (81)
#83 - Seton Hall (83)
#87 - Butler (90)

You don't go to class and you do not play for Sha. Laugh if you want but the team every year under Holloway has a GPA over 3.0.

In an online only basket weaving course? Give me a break with those phony numbers. Remember when the roster would list the players selected Major? I wonder what happened to that.

yeah there’s maybe a few that take school seriously still but not enough to make the team student athletes.

I love how underwater basket weaving is often cited as an easy class but if you gathered 25 random people off the street (or on this board) how many could weave a basket upon request above water, nevermind under water?
