$1 Slice Day: Sept. 30 vs. Wagner

Let's not have a joke like when they ran out of pizza at the Poppa John's Bowl before halftime. Wasn't it 2008 at Legion Field in Birmingham?
No issue for me, no way I was eating pizza from Louisville in Alabama regardless, but sort of funny in a sad way.

All I ask is that they have more than 2 windows open on the east side upper deck. Haven't had anything but a hot dog as an option in 3 years. Sorry they have Subway some times too.

Watch out for flying pizza crust if we start getting blown out early
Brings way back memories of going to the old Orange Bowl in the 90s when U. Miami was dominant.
They still needed ticket deals to pack the cheap seats in the upper deck. One night they were selling Buds in glass tall boy bottles and the Liberty City locals found it easier to toss the empties over the rail than a trash can.

It’s Pizza Hut slices. One of the most insulting deals in the history of sponsorship, Pizza Hut at the State U of NJ. Yes it’s money but I mean it’s like McDonalds serving the steaks at a Texas Longhorns game
Jersey Mike's sponsors our basketball arena.

LOL. About 100 great pizzerias in NJ and RU selects Papa John's - who already showed Rutgers they can't handle the volume of a football game at the bowl game a couple of years ago.

Rutgers gonna Rutgers.
It’s Pizza Hut. Not that that makes it better.

It’s not just NJ folks. Wagner’s Staten Island NY has great pizza places. Most of us wouldn’t spend $8 for a Pizza Hut pie In our lifetime.

Dollar Slice Promotion
It's part of "Pizzafest".

Slices of pizza will sell for $1 at concession stands inside the stadium through the end of the first quarter. In addition, The Rutgers Boardwalk will join in on the fun with its first-ever PizzaFest. Look out for pizza rice balls, pizza donuts, pizza ice cream, pizza cheesesteaks, pizza coffee and more pizza. There will be a pizza-making class for fans and a gourmet pizza display.

The special-edition "Rutgers Pizza" t-shirt will be thrown out to fans during the game.

Maybe they were the only pizza joint willing to step up and take a kiosk in the stadium.
Fun fact. Bill Parcells was an early employee of Pizza Hut when he attended Wichita State University. He considered becoming a franchise owner for Pizza Hut, but opted for coaching football.

A buck for a pizza slice is a good deal, regardless of the source.

When we lived in far West NY near the Finger Lakes, there was a local Pizza Hut that was a go to place for us. Their pan pizza was quite addictive. Have not had a Pizza Hut item in probably over 25 years. Checked on a slice of pepperoni pizza nutrition info. What a freaking "nutritional train wreck:

Haha, when I was a kid and then in college I liked Pizza Hut!! The pan pizza and the breadsticks. We used to go to the lunch buffet in college sometimes and house that stuff. And they usually let us take home all the buffet leftovers when the buffet ended. But yeah, haven't had it now in 20 years maybe.

Literally 5000 better pizza spots in Jersey than Pizza Hut. That said I do like that fake pizza taste once in a while and I still pass on Pizza Hut.

I would actually eat Dominoes or Papa John’s, even Little Caesars, once a year maybe if at some event or party or anything. But Pizza Hut you will never catch me dead with .. the cardboard box it comes in tastes better than the “pizza”

When I was in Biloxi for a year in the early 80s there was precisely one pizza place in town that delivered to the barracks at Keesler AFB - Dominos.

So we ate it.

For nearly a year.

It took me almost 20 years to eat any kind of pizza again.

they should just give $1 vouchers when you enter the stadium and extend it to 3rd quarter..it will be ridiculously long lines for 1 quarter and then have the people in line will complain when the quarter ends and out of pizza.....

How many of those are equipped to produce enough pizzas to supply an event like this? It not like they are going to install a pizza oven and the space to hand toss pizza for a $1 pizza slice. One those 100 pizzerias probably couldn't even make a pizza at cost for that cheap. This is one thing you can't fault the AD for doing.

Soooo many liars on this thread, lol. "I haven't eaten Pizza Hut in 20-25 years." Bologna.. You definitely have just like the rest of us heathens, lol.

It's garbage, greasy crap that every kid on the planet loves. If you have children, grandchildren, or at one point were a child yourself, you've eaten pizza hut in the last 20 years.

So my first job when I was 16 was a pizza hut and the last time I went in to pick up an order from one (couple months ago) they had the same type of oven. It's a simple conveyer belt style but can only hold 5-6 pizzas at a time. The prep for 35k even for mass production pizza shops like Pizza Hut is a tall task.

but most will refuse to admit it
But the place no one admits getting pizza from is Little Caesars

The best way to find a decent local pizza is ask people what pizza places are too greasy for them and the more they complain about the grease in the pie, the more of a recommendation to try was the way I heard the complaints.
