The oldest active (1896-today) major football conference is the Big Ten Conference (a.k.a. Intercollegiate Conference of Faculty Representatives; Big Nine and Western Conference) of which Rutgers became an official member on July 1, 2014.

The B1G is the fifth conference or league Rutgers Football has played in in its history:

1893-1894 Middle States League
1958-1961 Middle Atlantic Conference
1991- 2012 Big East Conference
2013 American Athletic Conference
2014-present Big Ten Conference

When Rutgers and Louisville left the Big East in the same year, they became the only schools to have ever played in three separate conferences in three consecutive years.

This should be the most liked post in board history.
