The guy is so irritating. Keeps referring to all the “Division 2 schools” Rutgers played.

By having the game switched to Thanksgiving Night, Rutgers couldn't get in its final regular season game before bowl bids went out the previous weekend.

When Rutgers played Tulane at the Louisiana Superdome on November 13, it was broadcast by Mizlou Sports and carried on Channel 5 back in New York.

The VP of Mizlou was impressed by Rutgers and he also had pull with the Tangerine Bowl that was also broadcast by Mizlou.

But it wasn't enough. With no post season track record, the Peach and Tangerine Bowls decided to offer other teams that had finished their seasons.

Princeton, Cornell, Lehigh, Bucknell, Columbia, and Colgate. Now given the Ivies were still technically playing Div 1 at the time, they had already gone thru the process of deemphasizing football. UConn and UMass at the time were also smaller programs. Tulane was 2-9 that year, Navy and Louisville both 4-7.
