Starmount is tied for 2nd in the MV 1a/2a. North Stanly will finish 3rd in theirs. I believe this should put Starmount in front of North Stanly. Also, from my observations Murphy was going to be on the bubble. Have most people decided Murphy is definitely going to be 1AA, or is it still possible for a 1A? How will the state determine 1-4?

1 through 4 will be decided by a draw. the new rule stating that teams will be seeded by record then if still tied will be seeded by there conference record meens that as of now murphy will be big 1aa unless someone opts out bumping them down. So therfore the 2 and 8 teams that r most likely going to make playoffs will have at least 1 conference win instead of just 2 nonconference wins, and there is more 2 and 8 teams with a conference win below murphys adms than 2 and 8 teams with a conference wiin above murphys adms which is keeping murphy big 1aa. Hope that makes sense. Thats how seeding all teams with tied records will be decided will be by their conference record except for undefeated teams were u have to draw or where say north stokes will be 3 and 3 in their conference and if rosman loses they will be 3 and 3 in their conference so there will be a draw between those 2 teams for seeding purposes.

starmount will be 3 way tie for 2nd with ashe county and wilkes central. there will be a drawing to see who gets 2 seed from that conference, who gets the 3 seed from that conference and who is a wild card. so starmount could be 2 seed higher than north stanly, could be a 3 seed and there conference record would be higher than north stanly so they would be seeded higher than them or they could draw the 4th seed be a wildcard and be seeded lower than north stanly. its all up in the air at this point until drawings r done.

West Regional Finals should be played at a neutral location every year... seems that there always a few undefeated teams. UNC-Charlotte would be a great venue for the WRF.

Ashe and W.Central are 2A...wouldn't that make Starmount the 2 seed from their conference for the 1AA playoffs?

no that only applies to 1 seeds in split conferences. To get a 2 seed from a split conference u have to finish 2nd outright.

so if the 3 way tie was for 1st place, then they would get a 1 seed no matter what. but doesnt apply for 2nd place

How can West Columbus be 1aa with 473
Students? Had 503 when school started
Principal told me. They must go by current
School year ADM.

I have to disagree with you BD Harris, and would actually prefer that the 1A Championship game go back to an East/West rotation with the game being played at the home field of the teams...Of course, that will never happen again, but it was great back in the day when that occurred...Remember watching Brevard back in 82' win the state 3A title over Bertie County....The town was abuzz right after the game with horns blowing, fans a hollering with happy faces every where...Just not the same nowadays with all the corporate sponsers and Stadiums so big that it makes the championship crowd look small....Nothing like a small town hosting a state championship game...But that's just my opinion!

not Rick, but wasn't it Mount Airy back when they had James Brim?

The Brevard - Tuscola game was another classic. All of Brevard's playoff games that season are available for viewing on Youtube.

To me, it does not look like there are any give me games unless you are seeded one or two. I cannot remember a year when there are so many good teams on paper.

Just for the record, I do not think East Wilkes has ever beaten a SMC team.

They beat a higher seeded Hayesville team in the mid 2000's if im not mistaken. East Wilkes beat them at Hayesville.

South Stanly is a much, much improved team. They were actually pretty good against us against the run. We were without a couple starters on the OL had something to do with that, but they aren't bad and flow to the ball well. We passed all over them though, so that is an area that can be exploited. Their only score was picking up a fumble and returning it for a TD. Their offense was not a good one for me to evaluate. Our defense totally shut them down, but we have the best defense we've had in some time in my opinion. Overall, there is plenty of room for them to improve but they are definitely a team on the rise. Best to get them this year, because they will be really good next year as they are young.

Starmount is currently a 2nd seed in 1AA. Wilkes Central will be #2 for 2A and Ashe will be #2 for 2AA.

I didn't know that Wilkes Central had that big of jump in ADM since they have been always 2A. So they will be 2AA this year. Ashe beat them head--to-head action.

I asked Coach Johnson and he said Starmount is #2 1AA seed.

Can anyone tell me anything on WSP or South Stanly ?

Prep is a very jekkyl & hyde type of team, much of it having to do with the fact that they're a first year varsity program.

They have a ton speed at the skill positions and a lot of size on both lines, but they're VERY raw. They're prone to mistakes on both sides of the ball and, despite all that speed and size, most of their guys are still learning the in's and out's of football. As a result the coaching staff keeps things really basic.

They can cause big problems if your team doesn't play smart and disciplined, but an above average team should be able to take care of them.
