Following Mount Airys week 1 bye, they'll face a competitive opponent out of Mt.Holly, NC, Mountain Island Charter. Many don't expect MIC to have a problem with week 1 opponent Community School of Davidson. Coach Washington has done a great job coaching those kids this year and the kids have played well. MIC has a good defensive scheme and have managed to score nearly 500 total points and gain 6,000 all purpose yards in their 11 games. MICs UNC commit #5 Elijah Burris RB has proven to be a problem for several defenses (7,000 career rushing yards). With all that being said, the two teams "per game" rushing and passing averages are nearly the same, both passing for slightly over 100 and rushing for over 250 yds. This may turn out to be a battle from the backfields. I expect MA will advantage of the 2 weeks they have off to prepare and recover. This may turn out to be a competitive week 2 game. The winner of this game will meet East Surry 11/29.

I'm gonna go with the Clubhouse here (if the Clubhouse beats CSOD). Mount Airy is a little over rated per usual, and the Clubhouse does have alot of athletes despite their questionable coaching.
MA may be without their stud RB #6with over 5,000 career rushing yards and Defensive poy last year in conference. is a Beast. MA hasn't played with their starting QB all season bc of injury. Also #1 fast wr is out. #8 is injured. Bears are banged up and young. Gone is one of the best coaches in state in Holder.

The excuses get old quick in every MA reference by him and a few other MA faithful...we're young..we're wounded..lol..blah.blah..blah..let that ish go..Other programs would kill to have their tradition..but it's kinda like since East Surry has been the summit of 1a ball this year by most standards...lil brother MA is singing the blues with the perpetual excuse train goin round and round the track.
Really like hammering the coaching too thinking Kelly is going to pop back in at any moment and take the job back.
I agree with buzz mt airy coach play calling leaves much to desire...I actually think MIC will win this game....I saw them play last year vs TJA and Mic appeared to hold every play but the refs can't call them all and their runningback only needs a second before he is gone. So I say MIC wins by a touchdown.
If #6 plays MA beats MIC it's that simple. He was carried of feild Fri night. Not an excuse it's fact. And yes this Coach is far from being Coach Holder. Whatever ES does MA is still MA. Anybody has a clue about 1A ball when you loose key starters it does make a difference. #6 rushed for 200 yards against ES Friday and is a stud on D as well. It does make a difference.
