Any Forbush fans out there with an opinion on this game? You have had a good year so far. Took care of Elkin, had a good win over North Iredell and Starmount. Got spanked by North Wilkes. Not sure how that happened?

East has won against South Stokes, who even though they look like they have talent, they have been terrible. Beat North Stokes who has probably the worst varsity team I have seen in 10 years and lost to a good Surry Central team by one point. That loss was due to 6 turnovers.

I cannot decide who I favor on Friday night.

QB Cooper was huge in the game against Starmount. He didn't play against North Wilkes...not saying that was the reason they lost. He is a pretty good runner that gave the Rams a fit.

Me neither RF.

Forbush before last year always had East's number. In 2012 they beat East for their lone win; and in 2014 they flat out embarrassed East all over the field and made the coaches look silly. Last year East changed it and dominated them for a change. Forbush couldn't believe it.

This year's game will depend a lot on which team will show up on both sides and who can handle success better. That has been one of East's main points for the year; how they could follow up last year. Their first two games were rather awfully handled by them; they easily could be 3-0 right now but fumbles will burn you in the option. They gotta play like they did vs North Stokes last week. It won't be easy but off the footage I seen they looked more motivated. Forbush has more pressure on them really. They beat their arch rivals for the first time in 10 years and are riding high against one of the better teams in the area this week. If they come out with fire it could be a dandy but if they get too big headed East could run through them if East shows up. It'll be a interesting one for sure.

As for Forbush vs. North Wilkes it was in large part a rout because of injuries. Forbush's QB was hurt along with another player or two and it threw their the offense off. Their big kid can run the ball hard (he had Bush's 1 TD on the first play of the game,) but without the QB to run their offense it gets tough for them. With the QB their run game is more dimensional, the backup threw it decent but couldn't run it. North Wilkes came out fired up and their line took control on both sides especially on O by letting the RB run as much as he wanted. NW had 500+ yards of O by the end.

By the way North Stokes that bad eh? Who was the worst team you seen before them?

The worst teams I remember were the SC Eagles and the NS Vikes of the late 80's and early 90's. They would play every year and someone would have to win. The Toilet Bowl.

I hope for a good ballgame this Friday night with no injuries for either team. Sounds like both teams have had their injury problems this year.

Oh dear those teams were bad lol. I bet those games were doozies, the 1989 game caused Dobson to go crazy when they broke that streak. N Stokes went on to have some good years later though in 93 and 95 but wow. Is N Stokes's situation as dire as the Wilkes newspaper said it was?

BTW this game's WXII's game of the week for Friday.

EW 45 FORBUSH 7
COMPLETE DOMINATION BY THE CARDINALS IN EVERY FACET OF THE GAME. HEARD THERE WAS SOME LOCKER ROOM FODDER FROM THE WINSTON SALEM JOURNAL THAT HELPED FUEL THE CARDINALS FIREPOWER. ANYWAY GREAT GAME PLAN BY THE COACHES...IT SEEMED THAT FORBUSH WAS WORN OUT EARLY BY THE PACE THE CARDINALS PLAYED. THE PLAY CALLING WAS PHENOMENAL AND KEPT FORBUSH TOTALLY FLAT FOOTED ON DEFENSE PRETTY MUCH THROUGHOUT THE GAME. GREAT WIN CARDINALS..GOOD GAME FORBUSH. GOOOO CARDS!!

East put it all together last night. Loved the first half pace. Team is still young, but getting better each week.

IMHO...I really think the (4) Wilkes County teams could possibly be the top 4 teams in the conference. It hasn't happened before, and it may not happen this year. This year seems to be the best chance for Wilkes teams to show and prove in the conference. The conference from top to bottom has more parity than ever before. Definitely not counting chickens before they hatch. It seems doubtful that the normal teams that finish in the bottom (3) will finish there this year, but thats why we play the game.

I can't really say I was surprised with an East rout; score wise yeah I was though. But then again that's the nature of this series between these two. They have always been back and forth and in their good years they always destroy the other. East's done it the last two years while Forbush did it in 2011/13 and 14. The 2014 game at Forbush was humiliating to East so I'm sure they went out of their way to get back at Forbush for it.

East had more to play for. Forbush beat their hated rivals on the 9th; they could end the season and be happy now but East is playing for their respect and to get a good start in conference play. I think East's turned the corner off that early slump. This week will be their test though.

I believe if EW is at full strength, and if N.Wilkes runs the Grimes kid for 40 carries, then that plays into EW hands. EW run defense is solid. On offense EW doesnt rely on any 1 offensive player, so I think they will be harder to defend. I have EW winning by 10+.

I believe North will keep it close in the first half and then East will pull away in the second.

To your point about Wilkes County football, this is the only year I can remember when all 4 teams have a good team at the same time. I do think North is the weakest of the 4.

North W will play East W hard if they have a good week of practice and come into the game ready. They have had a tendency the last couple of years to not come into games mentally ready and not play their best. They also tend to choke wins away like last week; they could have sealed the deal but fell apart to Avery.

East's way better than North is but North if they play like they are capable will play very hard and make a game out of it. They got a good sized line and a hard running RB. The lack of a barn burning athlete and passing game will hurt North if they get down too much. I agree it will be close for a half but East will feast on their lack of athletes.

You are exactly right that there is more parity in the league than I remember there being in years and years. However, there is no way that I can see North or West finishing ahead of Ashe. Alleghany, and Starmount. I may be wrong, but I will definetly be surprised. I think Central is as athletic as ever and will bring all the problems that can be caused by speed and quickness, and of course East definetly seems to have turned a corner over the last couple of years, but I am not sure they are as good as they were last year. North would have had to improve tremendously, and West just seems to find ways to lose to teams that they should not lose to year after year.

East is not as good as last year at the line of scrimmage, but despite injuries and youth they are playing hard and coming around. I personally think Central wins the conference with East second, then West, Ashe and Alleghany fighting it out for 3rd.

Better get ready for East next year because they will be just as good if not better than last year's team.

Even though EW has lost 1 that they honestly could have easily won despite 6 turnovers. They honestly may be just as good as last year. Line play on the defensive line is taking care of business. They have held their offense down, especially during the first couple of games, when the offense coughed it up with fumble after fumble. Against Forbush, that was as good of an offensive display as I saw all of last season. Last years E.W team was more flashy, but this years team is as blue collar as they come by playing assignment based football, and being able to make the adjustments and needed stops on defense. Honestly, this years team isn't far off pace from last years. They along with West Wilkes may have the best defense in the conference. Can either EW or WW slow down the offenses of Wilkes Central or Ashe County? Time will tell. Ashe definitely had the toughest nonconference schedule by far, and they scored a ton of points in the process. Their defense, however has given up some basketball type scores to their opponents, while suffering very lopsided losses as well. I'm not so sure that Ashe benefitted from their tough strength of schedule. I'm sure they will be ready to play teams in the MVAC, as they're all smaller schools with a similar pool of athletes to choose from, although Ashe's pool should be larger.

With the Boles kid back at Central and finding his way into the offense their offense just got way more explosive with Parsons and him in the backfield together at the same time. Their defense needs major work but they can and will score on anyone they play.

Still see East winning. Think they will improve more and more as the year goes on. Ross is a good one and will be a well known commodity by seasons end.

West is better than people think. Definitely capable of finishing top 4. Their game this week will be interesting. They have improved tremendously on both sides of the ball since last season.

Ashe is Ashe.

Starmount is seriously lacking the athletic advantage they've had on some of the teams in the conference and it's noticeable. They have no game breakers on that team and might not for a while.

Elkin. Hard to compete with no depth but they have a couple nice looking skill players.

Alleghany will surprise some people. Their confidence is at an all time high and the continuity and experience within their program will win them some games in conference.

North. Well they are Jekyll and Hyde right now. Time will tell.
