Technically your right, but it was the right call. Letting Whisenhunt and his way have anymore impact could have proven to be more damage than good. It's a different situation but Miami is doing a lot better after firing their HC.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_National_Football_League_head_coaches_with_50_wins

Look at all the coaching records. Study them close. In the modern era there are only a handful of coaches that win well over 50% of their games.

-Take Bill Belichick for example. He had a losing record at Cleveland, was fired, and hired by New England. Did he suddenly find the ability to coach or was there something different.......say perhaps Kraft, Bledsoe, Brady?

-Dungy was very close to a .500 coach at Tampa......then he went to Indy where his record blew up. Why.....did he suddenly find the ability to coach?

-Pete Carroll was let go of the Jets.....didn't do that well with the Patriots.....was on the hot seat at Seattle......then they found Wilson.

-Bill Parcells - is considered one of the better coaches in the NFL, but lifetime of .569.....with a few stops only being .500

-Marv Levy - Losing record with the Chiefs, but then struck gold in Buffalo

-Ditka - awesome with the Bears, but fired from the Saints

-Shanahan - 2 losing records with 2 different teams......but struck gold with the Broncos.......mmmm, perhaps Elway?

-Coughlin - basically a .500 coach at Jax for a long time. Got picked up by the Giants, drafted Eli, and won several SB's.

-Reeves - was awesome with the Broncos but then had 2 losing records with the Giants and Falcons after that.

and on, and on, and on, and on

See, where I'm going with this? Whiz is certainly, certainly not a great coach by any stretch of the imagination, but don't be fooled to think that what we have seen over the last 23 games is only a product of the coaching.

The NFL passes these guys around like candy. Guys get blamed and fired all the time for lack of winning, but often it isn't the coaching that's the issue.

Kyle Shanahan should be the next Tennesse coach. I'd support that. Would love to go to Nashville for a few games, always loved Detroit but it's too far.

What do you guys think about Derek Carr for Oakland? He's having a pretty decent season...15TDs, 3INT so far this year. Just picked him up in my fantasy league. Russell Wilson has really underachieved for me this year.

Carr is doing so well that I may keep in my limited keeper league for next yr. Oakland doing well.

Just to throw another shot.....Del Rio, who is currently coaching Oakland, had a losing season in Jacksonville.

I bet Houston is wishing they had drafted Carr right about now. That would've been really awkward after the whole David Carr thing lol.

Detroit also making moves mid season firing the GM and president. It'll be interesting to see who the hot job is this off-season. Gunna be a lot of interesting choises for candidates.

1. Tennessee- franchise QB, several good young pieces in place
2. Miami- potentially great D, good young playmakers on offense.
3. Detroit- probably will be open. Probably the best choise talent wise, but key players are aging fast.
4. Indy- franchise QB, reciever. Defense and O line need work.

Those are some pretty good choises for future HC, plus more will open up later on.

Detroit is an awful choice as is. Last year it would have been great with Suh/Fairley in the middle but once we lost them both our defense just isn't a threat and Calvin just isn't going to be Calvin anymore.

They drafted extremely smart under Schwartz but under Caldwell it's been questionable. At least last year they did focus on the OL and got a decent RB.

When Cowboys get Romo back they are winning the divison. 8-8 probably wins that division this year.

Huge game for my Raiders @ Pitt. Haven't been this excited 8 games into the season in sometime.

Even with a loss there are several winnable games on the back half of the schedule.

Tons of young talent on the roster and building for the future the right way.

Raiders have talent in the right spots these days. Cooper, Murray, Carr are gonna be fun to watch if they stick together.

Man the Steelers are done if Ben is out for a while. If they can win here, they can still get a wildcard, but without him, Bell, and Pouncey just no chance long term.

Another illegal block (pi) by wheatonon the slant. Kudos to Tomlin for realizing the NFL stripes don't have the nuts to call that twice.

Tough loss for Oakland. Lots of young talent there though. That conference may be theirs for the taking in the near future.

Antonio Brown, shew.

Steelers are toast without Ben. Injury doesn't look good. Just seems like one of those years where nothing goes right.

Also...Crazyq is an absolute psycho. His team is undefeated yet he's still obsessed with the Steelers. Really strange.

I understand people focusing on the local stuff but good lord Minnesota can take the NFC north right now! I wouldn't bet on them to do so but GB is looking very beatable if Cobb/Lacy are contained.

I love everything about what Oakland is doing right now. Amazing what happens with a little competence!

Jacksonville isn't having the same turnaround this year but I can see it next year. They will essentially get 2 first round picks added to their roster since this year's missed the whole season. They got talent on offense and just need to shore up that defense.

They've been completely snake-bitten this year. I think I read that they've got the most guys on IR in the NFL this year. Its just been one thing after another. Can't make it a week without suffering a major injury. All things being equal I'd think they'd easily be a playoff team and possible contender, but losing Bell and Ben in back to back weeks is crippling.

Looks like Ben will only be out a couple of weeks. Steelers have a home game vs. Cleveland, then a bye. Hopefully he's back in 3 weeks at Seattle. The win over the Raiders was huge for their playoff implications so perhaps they can get Ben healthy and hopefully Pouncey back for the playoffs. Then you never know.

The last Brown play wasn't a pick play.

How many people can whine about the Steelers? They're 5-4. It's amazing how many people care about them even when they're an average team.

Looks like Ben will only miss a home game against Cleveland.

Jacksonville indeed has some talent on offense. Their two WRs both look good, and Bortles has great potential.

Bengals get a home game against Houston on 11 days rest. I like their chances to go 9-0.

[laughing]

Wasn't a pick play? The guy reached out and GRABBED the DB.

Rewatch it - he didn't grab him. They touched but that's legal within a yard of the line of scrimmage. The defender was also touching Bryant as much as Bryant was touching him. It also wasn't the defender guarding Brown. The only reason he fell was because he was actually grabbing Bryant.

It wasn't even close to being a penalty.

You're just wrong. If so, you could call a pick play on every single play ever snapped. Just like holding. Maybe you lost a bet or just hate the Steelers but it's a stupid ignorant argument.

There are a significant number of Bengal fans on this board that prefer a Steelers loss to a Bengals win. It's very odd indeed.

You realize it wasn't the guy guarding Brown, right?

You obviously don't know football and are blinded by being emotional. Wait a couple more days when you're over the loss and you'll see that no call was clearly the correct call. Try to think logically instead of with your emotions.

I hope the Bengals players aren't looking past the Texans... but I admit that I am. ;)

It's going to be a blast taking on Carson and the Cardinals with 10-0 on the line.

yes, the inside slot rec ran his route directly at the DB checking Brown even grabbed him with one arm when he "picked" him.

Every single team in the NFL runs pick plays. It's basically a core of the offense for the Pats and Broncos. I'd argue the Steelers use them a lot less than most teams. Seems like a complete waste of time to ***** about one that was questionable.

Antonio Brown is ridiculous though. How does a receiver a hair over 5'9" get over 300 yards of offense? [laughing] I honestly believe if Roethlisberger was healthy all year that Brown would have legitimately challenged 2000+ receiving yards.

NFL is funny this year with so many undefeated teams and so many bad teams, but those great teams are all carried by very soon to be retired leaders of the league! Well except Cinci. And then all the bad teams are just littered with a ton of young up and coming my talent. I honestly enjoy wat hung the bad teams as much as the good this year:

Tennesse- Mariota, DGB, Andrews, Wright, Walker and the guys on defense too

Jax- Bortles, Robinson, Hurns, Yeldon, Thomas

Chicago- Langford, Jeffrey Kevin White

Tampa- Winston, Evans, Martin also some you r quality on defense

Of course there is the Browns, Redskins, KC, and the Lions that are just bad and honestly their best players are almost getting over the hill as far as NFL age.

I can't wait to see the league without Peyton, Brady and Brees

Good games today. Crazy finish for GB. Patriots use their lucky rabbit's foot to remain unbeaten. AZ looked tough with the road win, and showed a ton of poise after the back-to-back TOs turned into touchdowns for Seattle.

Time for the Bengals to go 9-0 a few hours from now.
