wow, England awarded a FK (justified) just outside the penalty box in the 99th minute (stoppage time), trailing 2-1.

And Rashford is just high with his kick, and it's a final, 2-1, France over England.

France played like absolute crap today and they were still successful in beating England.

There are no good misses
Some are better than others. I’m a mathematician, I’ll define it. A bad miss is one which will haunt its perpetrator every moment of the rest of his days. Kane’s was a bad miss.

My thoughts are that there are no good misses. Some are worse than others, but none of them are good.

As a Spurs fan, that was going to be a tragedy either way.

Argentina-Croatia coming up. I can’t watch it live and so am forced to copy it. I will try to avoid learning the final score before seeing the replay. Rooting hard for Croatia.

I would like to see the winner of this game lift the WC. Modric or Messi, but I was always a Messi guy first. Not to mention Ronaldo's head may actually blow up if Messi lifts the WC and not him. If Croatia does win, I'll be behind them.

I’m all in on Modric.

Does Croatia get back to the final? Does Messi get to the final? I really don't see much of a favorite in this match. Should be fun.

Tough PK awarded to Argentina. That is a 50-50 call. By the book, it's the correct call. But most refs (as they've been instructed) take the approach of if you get the shot off, then no PK is awarded.

Messi buries the PK in the 34th minute, and Argentina takes a 1-0 lead.

It was a foul and he buried that. Croatia's keeper has been incredible against PK's in this tournament. This game is now going to open up a bit so it should be fun.

Wow, Argentina with a beautiful counter attack off of a Croatian corner, and a great attack and finish by Alvarez, makes it 2-0. Some poor D by Croatia on the play.

Does Croatia yet again pull off a second half miracle? You can never knock that team out.

after some breathtaking quarterfinal matches, the Argentina - Croatia match was underwhelming. Messi and Alvarez were sensational, but it wasn't a great back-and-forth battle. Here's hoping that today's semi is a nail biter. Morocco has yet to allow an opponent to score (the only goal against them was an own goal when they played Canada). That said, France has the firepower to overwhelm most defenses. Should be interesting.

Either a slip or simply badly mistimed the ball. It might open up the game a little bit.

yeah, it's tough to tell, and I've watched the replay a dozen times. The defender made an aggressive move to try to intercept the ball. When you're playing a flat 4 back line, you have to get the ball on an interception attempt, or you really put your teammates in a challenging situation. Mbappe did a nice job of controlling the ball and getting off a shot. Hernandez did phenomenal job on his shot on the deflection from Mbappe's shot.

unfortunately, I have something scheduled, so I'm going to miss the rest of 2nd half. I'll leave it to the rest of you to update the results/continue the discussion.

It was a good match, both teams fairly aggressive, putting a lot of pressure on the D. A fine match, actually.

Six minutes stoppage time and I cannot understand how Morocco did not score at 90+3. Wow, that was the nail, but if the ball had gone in, wow, drama out the wazoo.
