Kind of tough to get up for this match, but two teams that had a tremendous run in the World Cup. I hope Morocco's defenders that left the semifinal game due to injuries can play.

Uruguay-Germany in 2010 was a barnburner of a 3rd-place match.

No score at 12’. Argentina is being very aggressive, pushing hard. Argentina #11, DiMaria, is a hell of a player.

Argentina awarded at PK in the 22nd minute. No team has received more PKs in this World Cup.

Messi to take the shot.

And he scores, in the 23rd minute, 1-0, Argentina

Argentina 1-0 France at 23’. DiMaria made a slick move into the box and got fouled. The announcer said “100% a penalty,” and the French players didn’t put up much of a fuss, but DiMaria sure went down easy.

Yeah, that put the ref in a tough box. DiMaria did go down pretty easily. But Demeriele (the defender) was behind him, and pushing on him, and appeared to clip his heel (inadvertently).

It definitely was a foul. Whether it raised to the level of being worthy of a PK is questionable. The ref has been pretty active on calls in the final, so I wasn't surprised that he awarded a PK.

Argentina dominating play thus far....wonder if France is setting them up for the rope a dope late as they are running around like crazy.
