I’m just reporting here, as I have seen no highlights other than the red-card play (seemed to be a legit red, it was very dangerous).

Here I thought you woke up at 5 a.m. to watch the match while working out a proof and then were heading straight to the gym. I was all prepared to hate myself even more.

a legitimate complaint. This is an easy call -- not even close to being debatable.

I should add that the ref didn't call it, so it was reviewed via VAR, and no call from that as well. Both groups got it wrong.

Netherlands doesn't waste much time, scoring at the 5 minute mark, to take a 1-0 lead over Ecudar.

Netherlands - Ecuador is an entertaining match. As shown above, Netherlands scored 5 minutes into the match. They also dominated much of the 1st half. In stoppage time at the end of the half, they nearly scored, but had a guy called offsides. (One of the toughest offsides calls there is, as the player was in an offside position, but was not involved in the play. However, if it's felt by the ref that he impeded the vision or play of the GK during the shot, or otherwise influenced the positioning/play of the GK, then the player is called offsides.)

In the 2nd half, Ecuador has played better, and go the equalizer:

Since then, Ecuador has played well, and nearly took the lead:

though Netherlands is still battling. They're at the 77 minute mark -- hard to predict if this will end in a tie or one team will take the match.

France has been buzzing around Denmark's goal, but finally gets their 1st goal of the match at the 61 minute mark. Mbappe with the goal.

Denmark ties it up on a header off a corner at the 67 minute mark. Wow. 1-1

Mbappe, again, at the 85 minute mark to put France up 2-1.

Mbappe, so fast, is anyone else so consistently dangerous? (I’m not watching the match; my wife is watching Hallmark so I’m watching UM-OSU on the Kindle. I hope to double up for Argentina-Mexico.)

Final: 2-1, France over Denmark. Quite enjoyable soccer. Mbappe is such a difference maker for France.

You can tell that a large percentage of the Mexican fans in the crowd live in the United States. How? When Mexican fans are given something to jeer, you hear a lot of booing instead of whistling. 😉

Messi gets a goal for Argentina:

Enzo Fernandez gets his 1st goal late in the game for Argentina, making it 2-0, Argentina. A heck of a move to get some space, and a hell of a shot:

Final: 2-0, Argentina
