If the same two or three players don’t score, then this team just doesn’t score; most of the players on that team couldn’t score a goal if the net was as wide as the ocean and they were standing on the beach.

Okay, now let the rationalizers rationalize this loss and not being able to score a single lousy goal against RIT. I know, hot goalie, long lay off, etc., etc.

Dude STFU with your constant negativity. They could win next 14 games and you would disappear posting until they lose again. Blah blah blah.

Fink broke the seal, finally, and the Lions were buzzing early, but RIT scored and have carried play late in the period. 1-1 thru 1.

The boys played the feud at the end of the period and RIT will have a PP to start the second.

Killed off the opening PP and settled in, the PSU scored almost instantly on a PP of their own. Smith, from Servagno and DeMarsico. 2-1, 12 minutes left second.

wowowowow!!!! Cerrato with a once in a lifetime gooaoalalalalala!!!!! Brokeaway while wearing an RIT stick stuck to his uniform and deked. The goalie. 3-1, 3:31 to go second.

Third period starting.
GOoOoOoOaAALlllll! Crespo cleans up a rebound in front, from Cerrato and DiMarsico.4-1, 13 minutes to go.

Annnd a bouncing rebound goes in for RIT, 4-2, 12:30 to go. Annnnnd to add insult to injury, Smith is now of for a penalty under review for a major. On the delayed penalty, PSU was lucky not to give up a goal on a 3on1 when the puck bounced over the stick about to plant it in the twine. Review determined NO penalty. Even strength up 4-2 with 11:25 to go.

probably a make up call for interference on Collins. RIT Pp with 10:30 to go. Tigers just clanged one off the crossbar. Still 4-2. Penalty killed, 9 minutes to go.

GoOoOaooaoaalllll! Crespo with his second from Schoen and Chin-DeGraves. 5-2, McFadyen in net for senior celly. 2:32 to go.

GoOoOoaoAllll, Christenson’s first of the year is a 195 foot empty netter. 6-2

Annnnnd, RIT pots a shot, even before I’m done typing. 6-3, 90 seconds left.

GOoOoOoOoalalalll!! Empty net hat trick for Crespo on senior night!!!! 7-3!, thirty seconds to go.

Final. Nice win, but work to do. Nice night for the seniors.

Any excitement for this weekend? We stink this year, but can be somewhat dangerous at times. We can score at times, but defense is iffy at best. Defensemen are not consistently solid. One goalie is wildly inconsistent. The other is just plan bad.

Have you seen PSU?

😞

Regardless, PSU will stomp the gofers. 🙂

That is what I am afraid of. At your place would be tough with a good Gophers team. Our only chance at the NCAA's is to win the conference tournament. Even if we somehow split this weekend, I don't know if we can climb into the rankings.

Regarding PSU vs RIT, that time off is difficult for any team. With World Juniors, holiday break, etc. teams get rusty. Good to have a somewhat meaningless game to knock the rust off.

Seems there's some controversy on who will be left home.
Note: Please feel free to remove team USA talk if in appropriate.

Seems like there always is. Thinking maybe Bill Guerin is in the center of that. He is also the Minnesota Wild GM.

I hope the boys can get off to a better start vs the Gophers. Having everyone back should help. I thought they played well last weekend, but that they could not solve the RIT goalie on the first night. With that many shots, and several grade A chances, something should’ve struck twine.

However, the Gophers also want to start the second half with momentum as well. I can only hope Guy has them ready and they can grab an early lead.

I wonder if we will see the same goalie rotation, Fleming then Reidler.

The Swiss crew should be well rested by now, and McKenna may have had a chance to rest his legs as well with Canada not making the finals. Getting a sweep this week would be sweet, and with the Domers coming to town next week it would be a way to build momentum into the series with Bucky and Sparty upcoming. It would also be nice to get near the top of the B1G standings and in the race for the bye and home ice.

I know you don’t want to hear it, but we need to sweep your Gophers. We are #8 in the NPI and you are 32nd. Anything less than 2 Ws hurts us.
Understood. I love it when we are best on best effort wise. When our teams go at it, IMHO, it is great hockey. Puck gets up and down the ice in a hurry. If I didn't have a stake in it as a fan, I'd still want to watch. Great open flowing hockey!

Cheers!

Gooooalalalal! Luuuuuke Misa with a redirection and the Lions strike first. 1-0. From Schade

Gooaoaoalalalalll! Christenson makes it 2-0, 7:30 to go, from Misa and Gadowsky!

A dominant first period for PSU. Lions were buzzing, and Misa almost buried a Gopher turnover with about a minute to play, alas it caught the post. No penalties so far, and they’ve had plenty of possession time and I can’t recall a bad turnover.

A more evenly played period, both teams had chances, but they were few and far between. GoOOOoaoaoaoaolllll DiMarsico from Lauback and Wiebusch! Score is 3-0 in favor of the boys in blue. Puck went in with less than six seconds to go in the period.

Well, PSU was playing a very good game, poised. And then a misconduct of mystery (perhaps the broadcast gave the reason) by Wiebusch, and a minute or so later a roughing call on Katzin. 3-0, roughly four minutes to go.

Net was empty, and now a hard hit leads to the boys playing the feud. Gopher got a misconduct, Collins retaliated and is in the box. Still 3-0, PP for PSU with 63 seconds to go. Final, shutout for Fleming.
