2025 Four-Star guard Dorian Jones commits to Rutgers Basketball
Rutgers Basketball has landed a commitment from 2025 Four-Star guard Dorian Jones, a former recruiting target, late in the cycle.
For this year I believe. For next season, obvs right?
His eligibility for this season is TBD.
It's undetermined at this time what Jones' game-eligibility status will be at Rutgers for the coming season – clarification from the NCAA might be needed – but he will enroll and be on the roster.
If he was a forward or a center I’d agree with you. He’s a backcourt player. Geo was scrawny as a frosh and a major contributor. He has the length to get shots off on the perimeter and he plays defense. Hes not a point so the maturity factor required to run the offense won’t be as big a deal. Hes likely a very big upgrade over Powers, the only other true two guard on the team so this is a very big addition if he’s eligible to play. In contrast, Powers specifically referenced per scouting as a project on D. For a Pike team, this difference is huge.If he's legit 160, he needs a super sized meal plan and a lot of time lifting to bulk up a bit.
Yes, he's an upgrade of Powers. But since he's a bit of a slasher, can't see him going into the paint that light or defending against drives in the paint either without potential injury. As we recall, Geo did get banged up a bit due to his frame until he matured a bit.If he was a forward or a center I’d agree with you. He’s a backcourt player. Great insight Richie, thanks for that . . .

Jones was receiving no academic support from RU since he wasn't a student yet.*Give the academic and compliance teams credit
Because he's a Rutgers recruit...no problem if he committed to UNC, Kansas, UConn, etc.Why is the NCAA still pretending that these young men are still actual student athletes and not professionals?
Doesn’t our ex-LSU president know the secret handshake to get them to back off?Because he's a Rutgers recruit...no problem if he committed to UNC, Kansas, UConn, etc.
He needs to learn it on R budget.Doesn’t our ex-LSU president know the secret handshake to get them to back off?

Desperately trying to justify their own continued existence. Why is the NCAA still pretending that these young men are still actual student athletes and not professionals?
Academic issues are the only red flag. Otherwise it’s a great pick up if he is eligible.I guess this is a good pickup considering the 4* rating, but doesn't it raise a big bunch of red flags this late in the game?
It has to do with the NCAA clearing him academically.@Richie O maybe I missed an update, but is his NCAA clearance with RU based on his summer school academic work or some other player eligibility issue?
So is he cleared? It has to do with the NCAA clearing him academically.
