Although we previously recruited , this still comes out of no where. But happy and excited as the backcourt needed his talent both offensively and defensively . Big upgrade and makes the team better on paper at least. This is very positive news for August 20 and maybe the best news of the summer.

Boom! Been as down on Pike's future as the next fan lately, but between this and the late Euro pickups, starting to collect some interesting pieces for the future. Defense seems to be one of Jones' calling cards, so maybe we're back on the way to being a PITA to play against now.

His eligibility for this season is TBD.

It's undetermined at this time what Jones' game-eligibility status will be at Rutgers for the coming season – clarification from the NCAA might be needed – but he will enroll and be on the roster.

Wow - This is pretty big news if this kid is really going to be eligible to play. He’s a defense minded shooting guard per scouting report. That’s a big deal for us and of all positions, frosh 2 guards are the mostly likely to be able to step into major roles.

If he's legit 160, he needs a super sized meal plan and a lot of time lifting to bulk up a bit.
If he was a forward or a center I’d agree with you. He’s a backcourt player. Geo was scrawny as a frosh and a major contributor. He has the length to get shots off on the perimeter and he plays defense. Hes not a point so the maturity factor required to run the offense won’t be as big a deal. Hes likely a very big upgrade over Powers, the only other true two guard on the team so this is a very big addition if he’s eligible to play. In contrast, Powers specifically referenced per scouting as a project on D. For a Pike team, this difference is huge.

Yes, he's an upgrade of Powers. But since he's a bit of a slasher, can't see him going into the paint that light or defending against drives in the paint either without potential injury. As we recall, Geo did get banged up a bit due to his frame until he matured a bit.

Geo played big minutes and put up good numbers as a frosh. To be clear, I’m not suggesting this makes us an NCAA contender or something but if we picked up a kid who can bring what Geo brought as a frosh to the 2 spot that’s a huge upgrade to learn of on 8/20 based on what we thought we had.

More than anything else, I at least now see a path for us to be above average on D. I do expect that Nwuli will live up to expectation on the defensive end and now we’ve added a D baller on the perimeter who would play alongside J Mike. I don’t expect the Euros or Powers to be very good defenders.

I guess this is a good pickup considering the 4* rating, but doesn't it raise a big bunch of red flags this late in the game?
