Let me count the days: May, June, July and then AUGUST 1.
3 more months of weight lifting 2 times a day, 7 on 7 drills, etc until the real season gets underway.
But just when I thought my time was my own, Tax Season in NC was extended to Sept 25.
Not sure about anybody else but I was/am ready for some fishing, relaxing, cutting grass and preparing our tailgating menus.

Should be some better games in the conference this year not so much travel
King, will you be hosting a tailgate party for us at West this year? After all, when we finish the 2 day hike from the parking lot to the field, we will need food and water just to be able to enjoy the game!
Besides, Mt Airy might very well be 0 and 3 going into this game.
I don't think you will be 0-3 more like 3-0. I usually do the food at concessions. Really good food better hamburger than Dairi-o.
That might work and I can attests to the fact that West Stokes is 2nd behind East Wilkes (tops everybody that I know of) in quality of concession food.

MaxPreps finally has schedules posted, or at least some of the ones I looked at, but rosters have not yet been posted. Could Mount Airy lose as many as 4 games this year ? East Surry has a tough conference schedule. East Surry & Mount Airy are back to playing each other in the last game of the season, could if be for the conference championship as in past years ? SMC games are all back to before the last realignment.

Hopefully, my foot will be 100% healed, and I can make it to at least one game. I've been going to a foot wound specialist for three months for a diabetic ulcer on the bottom of my right foot, and it has been slow to heal. I finally got the foot boot off and am walking some without it, and I am praying this Thursday will be my last weekly visit to the foot wound specialist. Maybe I will get my 1st invite to the tailgate.
Back about a week before the world shut down from Covid I broke my foot AND got a small piece of wood in my right foot between my pinkie and next toe..... Well I didnt even realize the foot was broken OR the piece of wood... Wife came home from work took a look at my foot and said it look infected... Ulcer where the infection was formed and then I went to a doctor who gave me two shots of antibiotics which did absolutely nothing... Started going to a wound specialist at the hospital here and it had gotten pretty bad.... Infection wasnt getting any better nor the ulcer then they gave me Levaquin which ended up clearing it up completely within 10 days... When the wound specialist debrided the old tissue it came off my foot like a much thicker rubber glove... that was the day I decided to get my diabetes under control...A1C from a 14 to below a 6 my blood work best its been in 25 years and 110 lbs lost.... Not sure why I shared all this other than to say I hope your foot gets better sooner than later because I know the fear of what that brings.... Thanks for sharing sometimes it takes a wakeup call to get us motivated. Diabetes can cause a lot of issues.
It is almost better but this is my FB post of my foot after I had doctored on it myself for about 4 weeks and it never got infected, I guess because I was treating it and keeping it wrapped. This is how it looked before I went to my Doctor, and he took one look at it and said he needed to set me an appointment at InStride Foot & Ankle Specialist. I wore that boot for about 7 weeks. Also on the side of my foot, and each toe, but those healed in a couple of weeks. It has been around 11 weeks for the one on the bottom of my foot. The darker spot on the bottom of my foot is where the ulcer took all the skin off, and he said that was down into the fat. My problem is diabetic neuropathy in both feet and very little feeling in the right foot. The doctor said the pain would have been unbearable if I had full feeling in my right foot, which is mostly numb and I felt no pain.
I needed no pain meds, and the only treatment was a weekly visit to the doctor and replacing the wrapping with a large roll of gauze soaked in zinc and a large roll of self-adherent wrap.

I'm curious how a Shelby Mount Airy game could go. Shelby is losing guys which could even things out
Mt Airy should be loaded with talent this coming year.

West Stokes has all the talent. MA graduated a lot. Lowman has them rolling and Whitt is got the best OL ever.
West had 24 seniors but they will have good offensive line. Have some size on the line
If they all return, Mount Airy should have 19 seniors returning this year, with some having good speed.
If the talent is equal, then the difference will come down to the coaches. What's Lowman's record against Mount Airy? It seems like he has their number. He also has more coaches than you can shake a stick at. This game should be the last one of the season, as it will most likely determine the conference championship. When was the last time it appeared that MA might have a dogfight for a conference championship?
Mount Airy had a really good run the last few years but lets not pretend they walk the dog on everyone, year in and year out. Just last year they only beat Starmount by 3 to win conference. I know some will say the game wasn't as close as the score, but at the end of the day it was only a three point win, which I would still consider a "dogfight". Before that, in their current conference, yes they win it handedly as there really isn't many contenders outside of Starmount. However, in their previous conference, there were definitely some dogfights.
I only looked back to 2014 (10 years), but from 2014 - 2020 they either lost conference or had a close game to win it. 2021 is when they started their run.
Last year (2024) they only beat Starmount 17-14 to win conference.
2023 - Won without any dogfights!
2022 - Won without any dogfights!
2021 - Won without any dogfights!
2020 Lost to East Surry.
2019 Lost to East Surry.
2018 beat East Surry 31-28.
2017 beat East Surry 31-21.
2016 lost to East Surry.
2015 lost to Walkertown and East Surry.
2014 lost to East Surry.
With West Stokes having all the talent and the best coaching staff in NC; with both North and East Surry returning not just to the conference but also overwhelming talent; Starmount returning the best team in decades; and then the non-conference schedule (Watauga, St Stephens and that Viriginia Jefferson Forrest team) that Mt Airy has, I think Mt Airy will be happy with a 5 & 5 record, 6&4 at best.
This year Mt Airy may even be the "Home Coming" game on most team's schedule.
The run was a really nice run but all things eventually come to an end. No one should worry about playing Mt Airy this year.

I just said that based on the measurements, WS should be the team to beat. Did you not notice I said WS and MA should be the last game of the year. Sounds like they are the two favorites. MA is the team to beat until someone knocks them off. I am just trying to say that it will not be a cake walk in this conference. I can't believe you to an observation to the extreme.
BTW: If MA goes 5-5 the head coach will be looking for a job if the NCPrep posters have their way.

My post was not intended to be a response to you, rather it was just an "honest" lowering the expectations about a team that could be very good and it could be very middle of the road.
Can not wait for the games to begin. Starting the season with a LOADED Starmount team might just be a very good indication how the Bear's season unfolds.
In these growing communities never know about a player added that could make impact. This should be good conference and very few easy games. Fine line from finishing 2nd to 4th with East Surry and North Surry as they should be good
Prior to the last alignment I always thought it was a fun conference to work in. I remember some W.Stokes Mt. Airy battles and of course the E.Surry MA game is always a classic.
The areas of King and Mount Airy are growing very quickly. Pilot Mountain is not growing, as is evident in the school numbers staying the same.

If you look at the new additions (transfers) for sports at these schools over the last four years, WS and MA have gained quite a few players that have helped their programs.

Yesterday Year Mt Airy was accused of turning every thread into a Mt Airy thread!
Funny how a year goes buy and how things do change.
It seems to me that in this new environment we find ourselves, Mt Airy is an almost after thought. Not necessarily a bad thing. Just an observation. But with the Bears once again in a conference teamed with North Surry, East Surry, Walkertown and West Stokes one might believe that there would be more people inputting into the pot.
Maybe like me, the last couple of years, there was more push and pull about Mt Airy, Starmount, the Smokey Mountain teams and the most excellent Tarboro and Eastern Randolph teams.
Perhaps things will fall into place (meaning more conversation) as the season starts, and the cream teams start to rise, and others are revealed as to their strength and place in the universe.

Looking at some schedules East Surry has a really tough non-conference schedule including Starmount, Murphy, Statesville and Walkertown. West Stokes will scrimmage Eastern Randolph
