Honestly, if the clock on TV was correct, I thought McEnelly had the TD, but, who knows if that was the actual clock. I don't care, I'll take it!

Apparently the clock can save you on "reaction time" - I agree with you that he brought him to the mat in a "control position" before the clock went to zeros. Was less than a second, but just before the clock went to zeros. Not sure I understand the rationale of the clock saving you on "reaction time" if the wrestler is in control when they hit the mat, clock has not expired and the wrestler does not lose control after they hit the mat (i.e., in the immediate seconds after clock expires). I can understand "reaction time" applying if the wrestler loses control shortly after they hit the mat, but that was not the case here - McEnelly returned him to the mat from a rear standing position before clock went to zeros and remained in control through hitting the mat (and beyond in the immediate seconds after hitting mat even though clock had already gone to zeros) - just doesn't seem like "reaction time" should save you in that situation.

Great tournament. Best sport on earth but sucks knowing the season is almost over. Guys wrestled great. Though Max had that takedown on Rocco and have a feeling those two will see each other again at Nationals.

I actually agree with you on Haines. I was surprised he didn’t get hit for that.
Having watched matches all weekend that isn't called everytime. There are numerous times when a wrestler backed straight out and wasn't called. I don't know for sure but if a wrestler is working most of the match to score and then gets backed out without the other wrestler even trying to get a take down it doesn't get called as much like Tom said earlier each match is unique. Refs knows if a guy hasn't been intiating action during a match then gets pushy

Who cares? If he wants to be a coward and ban me he can do it.

Most of you should know I’m not here to troll. I was defending Haines as a deserving winner 15 minutes ago on HR. This is much bigger than PSU. The sport is in crisis.
The sport is in crisis now? Was it in crisis when Iowa was dominating or was that ok with you? The last thing you should be doing is criticizing other programs or the sport. Iowa’s problem is internal. That should be your focus, but you all can’t even agree on that.

Did you actually post this bullsh-t? Fans accept nothing. We're not a part of this. Is it so hard for folks like you to understand, the opponent comes to wrestle and possibly win? That dude is really fking good. They are 1-1 in the B1G against each other. Jesus, get a grip.

Let me give you a bit of history. There was a dude who won no less than 6 State championships in Minnesota. He also lost his very first match against Iowa. Sh&t happens.
He seems calm, but you dont

They are 1-1 but tbh Davino messed up last time. Can’t go to TB vs him

Don't worry, staff will give Blaze a hard talk and he'll turn it around next time.

Marcus just gotta figure out better set ups and angles. He was way Too Defensive right from the start.
I felt like Davino had him scouted really well. The few shots that Marcus took, Davino knew exactly how to respond. Marcus will definitely need to change things up.

The truth is that Marcus should have lost his first match with Davino also. I don't think he actually has the offense to get to Davino, so I think if he wants to win the next one it's time to make that leap of faith and win a scramble or two. Right now Davino has a blue print: get a leg in each period, hang out there with it, and kill 30 to 60 seconds in each period and not allow Blaze to get his timing off. The next one to hang out on a leg in each period needs to be Marcus. These matches are RAZOR thin so you need that one little thing that Dake had against Taylor. In the first match that was Marcus winning that scramble to get that reversal. It goes to ride outs and it's not going to happen without a hail Mary

Can anyone explain conference placement criteria for NCAA seeding?

seems odd to me you would reward an inferior conference points for winning when they wouldn’t have placed at B1Gs?

Also..PAC 10 conference has 4 teams. Are you telling me a 4th there is the same weight as 4th at B1Gs?

You already understand it. That's exactly what it is.

Hadn't participated in the thread during the finals. 3 observations. Sorry if already addressed.

1.) Duke looked extremely motivated. From the time he walked onto the mat until the 7 minute mark. Impressed.

2.) Lilledahl.... It was a frustrating match for me and Luke touched on it during his interview. His opponent reminded me of my first fishing trip in the gulf stream. Hooked a big Mahi Mahi and the f'er flopped around in the boat enough to piss off the first mate enough for him to try to stomp it. Captain gave the kid a TO. lol.... Reminded me of Luke's opponent. Not a fan of excessive scrambling, but one has to acknowledge the fight.

3.) Was looking forward to 184, and got what was expected. Lucky to walk away with the W there. Pretty sure we'll see it again in a couple weeks.

Manning throwing his hands up for a stall call with his guy down 5-1 at the end of the 3rd is so on brand.
It makes me wonder if the more animated/obnoxious coaches actually believe the crazy stuff they say/do or if they just get caught up in the moment and their brain gets benched and their emotion takes over. Kinda like certain Hawkeye fans who used to come around here with reasonable and rational posts but then went a bit off the rails.

Speaking of crazy stuff, what's up with the Big 12 ref who vocally narrates his matches in real-time? Not sure if it's just 1 guy or more do it, but I heard it on some of the YouTube vids of their finals matches. At first I thought it was a hot mic picking up chatter from a spectator, but then the color commentators were reacting and laughing about stuff the ref was saying out loud.

Love to hear what Jesse did that Mitch and Barr didn’t.
