Otoh, the predicted improvement over the course of the year for him didn't really happen. He ended about like he started.
There was improvement. He beat Kueter and Feldman in the dual meets, right? That’s nothing to scoff at. He just couldn’t sustain that level at the end of the year. Carroll is a good wrestler. Unlike the last few years, HWT is pretty deep this year which didn’t work in Cole’s favor.

A younger friend of mine was all excited. He was going to pick his kid up from wrestling practice. The club coach was a former Rider wrestler. I forget his name, but he had been pretty good in college. My buddy had gotten the club coach to agree to go takedowns. I tried to tell him stay away from that guy. The worst guy at the NCAA D1 tournament is a freaking beast, let alone this guy. My buddy still showed up for our 5AM workout, but all he did was whine about how bad the beating was.
Brian Scalabrine, red-haired ex-Celtics journeyman, would play trash talking civilians 1-on-1 and destroy them. His quote ~was: “I am closer to LeBron James’s level than you are to mine.”

Davis is not guaranteed a starting spot at PSU two years from now. We are talking PSU. Cael can snap his fingers and find someone seeded higher than #14 in two seconds.
you gotta be dreaming someone coming in could beat him out!hes right in what he says but they will have someone better!

Some people have memory-holed the years-long Suriano hangover. We're in a better position than that, but there is no finger-snapping and no guarantee either way.

Pretty sure from PJ's reaction in the corner it was just a blow to the jewels. I watched him in the corner after and he was not grabbing a hammy or any other body part. Just a classic look of man by balls hurt.
A shot to the jewels story: Back in the early '80s I was a D1 assistant coach to Jerry Swope at Millersville...We had a real stud named Mike Connor who got a real hard shot to the jewels during a match. The gym was silent as Connor rolled around the mat in pain. Swope yelled at Connor from the bench saying, "Mike how can anything so little hurt so much"? That really pissed Connor off so he got up off the mat and ripped his opponent a new one!

Penn State NCAA Wrestling Championships update: Team race standings, semifinal matchups and thoughts on them, and more heading into tonight's semifinals session.

I thought that this was going to be an The All Time Wrestling Team. How can that be when there are still 7 other teams still not eliminated mathematically? The old measurement of a great team was wrapping up the Team Trophy after Friday night and was supposed to be replaced by wrapping it up Friday afternoon for the Dynasty Team. Well, maybe next year. :ROFLMAO:

Looks like PSU has 105.5 points after session 3 this year as opposed to 90.5 last year. That's a pretty big difference.

From what I can glean, 9 points. 3 placement points have already been earned by winning in the quarters. Win in the semis and you wind up with at least 12 points. Four more for winning. So it looks like an additional 13 placement points up for grabs for each of the 8 remaining wrestlers.

Not quite. If you're in the semis, you can do no worse than 6th place which is 6 placement points. Tonight's matches, like the quarters, are worth 7. Second is worth 12 points.
