Back when they were battling out I think SCW got a bit of credit for taking out TJ Stewart but that ended up not being that good of a win based on how he fell apart that year.I don’t know if that dual was an accurate indicator. Seemed like there was some plot armor action going on lol. But on serious note overall, I think SCW has higher ceiling and was allegedly pounding soldano in the room.
Lost to both lower seeds. 0-2.How did Barbosa do?
Couldnt have had a worse tournamentLost to both lower seeds. 0-2. We're now 3-13 in matches.
It’s typical Rutgers and why we can never get **** right …everyone knows you pay JB whatever he wants and instantly change the trajectory of the wrestling program. There is no other sport at RU where that’s possible. If they can pay Knox $1M+ per year then they can find the money for JB.@174, the battle for NJ, #15 Wask upsets #2 Ruiz 9-5. They trained at Buxton. #20 Soldano upsets #4 Conway, F&M 4-1.
#14 Barbosa loses to #30 Snipes 1-2, Citadel in OT.
Time to find the $ for Burroughs if we want to compete for March trophies, or bring back Pritzlaff, SeaBass and Buxton for some AAs each year.
I don’t get the plot armor comment and beating SCW in dual was not an accurate indicator… I mean Soldano beat him fair and square… i agree SCW had a higher ceiling, but if he was allegedly pounding Soldano in the room then it’s clear Soldano has flipped the script, especially if he has a better nationals performance…. So how do you explain these better results from Soldano since his transfer?I don’t know if that dual was an accurate indicator. Seemed like there was some plot armor action going on lol. Thankfully he won 15-12. Crazy amount of stalling calls.Pinto has been ragdolling this kid but somehow it's 10-9... wtf...
Another example of peak moment(knocking off Blaze) to getting comfy and not performing same lvl?Well Barbosa looked like sh*t this entire tournament. Another 0-2 sh*t storm. There's nothing left to say now, Goodale has just completely failed at his job getting these guys ready.
There’s a million factors that could go into it. It doesn’t look like he picked up any crazy new skills or changed anything about how he’s wrestling. Zack Ryder as a 22 seed isn’t a good draw for anyone. Soldano maybe is happier there, maybe not being in b10 all year was good for him, maybe not having competition for his starting spot helped, etc. regardless of results so far today or this year I do not necessarily really think soldano is the clear answer over SCW I think it could go a million different ways if the same events happened over and over .I don’t get the plot armor comment and beating SCW in dual was not an accurate indicator… I mean Soldano beat him fair and square… i agree SCW had a higher ceiling, but if he was allegedly pounding Soldano in the room then it’s clear Soldano has flipped the script, especially if he has a better nationals performance…. Seems like a great guy, I’m rooting for him. Yeah just wish he did that here too.. lolSolano caught fire! Go get that AA! Love it
I think soldanos style has def changed since last year. Way more selective when he takes risk. Not pulling his opponent on top of him every match. Taking way more single leg attacksThere’s a million factors that could go into it. It doesn’t look like he picked up any crazy new skills or changed anything about how he’s wrestling. Yes yes and SCW still earned the #11 seed.. I’m just saying if it was true SCW was pounding Soldano in the room, then Soldano flipped that result in the dual meet.. and if Soldano goes on to have better nationals it’s hard to argue that he improved Oklahoma.. and it doesn’t necessarily just come down to coaching, as u said just the change of environment can greatly affect the mentality. Even a inj/one armed Ryder? But I agree w ya SCW losing to him doesn’t say much, Ryder is a stud, let’s see how SCW finishes his nationals. There’s a million factors that could go into it. Part of this isn’t always coaching either, a lot of it is maturing. Coaching staff repeatedly instructed Soldano to not pull guys on top of him but that’s a hard habit to break when you wrestle that way your whole life.I think soldanos style has def changed since last year.
