I'm expanding this thread to be the tournament thread. Please use this thread for all pre-tournament, in-tournament, and post-tournament discussion of the Southern Scuffle.

I'm reffing on Saturday, and going to the Eagles game on Sunday, so I'm pretty much out for PBP.

Hopefully, several of you will step forward and provide info on upcoming matches involving PSU wrestlers, mat assignments for upcoming matches involving PSU wrestlers, PBP of matches involving PSU wrestlers, and anything else that should be discussed.
So you’re going to see the Eagles’ JVs instead of watching the Penn State JVs? LOL (have fun anyway…).

yeah, I'm disappointed that some of the starters are not playing. I was offered a free ticket, but had to commit to whether or not I was going more than a month ago. So, you roll the dice, and hope that you roll a high number. Some times it goes your way, and some times it doesn't. Either way, I'm sure I'll have fun, provided I stay warm enough. 🤣

Henckle might bonus his way through
Asher should do very well if not win
Barr has an easy ride to the finals the bottom is stacked
I think opposite hwt, bundy top side has a terrible draw
Cochran got the easier bottom side
How is Sealy gonna do, he should make the finals, he could win it
165 Ferrari vs Dunbar second round then the quartes could be Waters, tough draw? How is this one gonna wrestle haven't seen him years and jumping all over the place like the eldest brother. Im honestly not even sure how good he ever was.

So, quick question. In the past, haven’t PSU wrestlers who are redshirting participated in the Scuffle? Why no Davis or Kasak?

I’m excited for this PSU squad at the Scuffle. While most are room guys and will never start, they show up, work hard, and represent us well. If the video snippets we see from time to time are a good reflection they seem to be enjoying themselves as part of the team. It’s a tribute to the character of the guys and the coaches and the culture of the sport - at least in thePenn State room.

The scuffle is now a tourney where the wrestlers must be attached, no redshirts. The reason the freshman redshirts can wrestle is because two years ago, the NCAA said freshman can wrestle up to five events without losing the redshirt. Upper class men will lose redshirt shirt if the participate attached at anytime during the season.

Perfect, thanks. I thought that was the answer but didn't have time to look it up and didn't want to spread bad info.

Yeah, I have to agree, Henckel looked pretty bad right there. I'm not one to make excuses, but almost from the get go, he looked as if something was wrong and he never really got out of the funk. Win and advance, which he did.

Off topic, but he also looked about 2 weigh classes smaller than Haase.

That is not the Henckel I'm used to seeing. He looked gassed early. I wonder if he has a tough cut. He got the win, hopefully, he has more energy next match.

I don't know these guys or their situation, but physically he looked much smaller than Haase and I'd have a hard time imagining that the cut is that bad for him. That said, I agree, he looked gassed or sick. Thankfully, Haase was also gassed and didn't do a ton.
