Nowhere in my post did I mention Washington, but it didn’t stop you from being triggered apparently. It’s too bad that some can’t even enjoy wins anymore. Sad case of FDS, I guess.

Personally, I think those were big wins. They were playoff teams.
I agree, but there are some here in our fanbase that are so miserable that they let their hatred of one individual get in the way of actually enjoying wins like those and the first time the program ventured into playoff territory and won 13 games in one season.
For me, a big win is a win over a ranked team. A "signature win" is one where the team PSU is playing is highly ranked (top 10). Just my opinion. Not looking to debate.
2024 season was a good one. Thought the team showed a lot of guts to come back at USC. Traveled across the country and won. USC fought hard. Good game, good win. OSU felt close with missed chances. I thought PSU was competitive against OSU. I thought the team showed guts against Oregon in the Big 10 championship game. I thought it was a competitive game. The playoff wins were exciting, I thought they were dominant in those games. The loss to ND was the toughest because I thought they could have won. It was a fun entertaining season. They were competitive pretty much all season.

Check Washington's schedule. They could easily be a 4 or 5 loss team. If USC beats Oregon it will be favored. If not PSU should be the favorite. USC has Oregon, Washington, Indiana and Ohio State in addition to PSU.
USC and Michigan are big games because PSU has a weak schedule and 10-2 could see them miss the playoffs.
I check this thread about once a week these days. Is there any actual recruiting news?
No. I’m pretty sure most of the summer is a recruiting dead period.
At least for every team but Michigan.
This article in SI discusses Campbell's cash recruiting philosophy, and says PSU at this time has a top 20 recruiting budget. It says Campbell has a self-imposed budget, and that he will move on if the situation requires.

How so? It gave a brief discussion about Campbell's approach to paying recruits. It said PSU is top 20 for recruiting budget, and that Campbell sticks to his budget and philosophy, and that he will move on from a recruit if it does not work with his budget and philosophy. I thought it explained what we're seeing. It made sense, in a very basic way. I would not say that it "makes no sense at all."

FWIW, DeSoto has won 4 TX State High School championships in the last 10 years and is frequently ranked nationally. This is a really good player from a really good team/program. I would not be shocked if he eventually gets inside 300 national ranking when all is said and done.

Supposedly, said they were reluctant to offer NIL directly to high school athletes. Supposedly, the Adidas money Tennessee got for NIL helped their cause. So, who else do we know that is now an Adidas partner for NIL?

Things will get really crazy if Adidas wants to challenge Nike and starts throwing NIL money at top recruits to steer them to Adidas sponsored schools. Nike would have to follow suit. If we think it is the wild west now, it could get worse.

Reminds me of the college basketball scandal from 2018 where adidas and some coaches were making payments to steer players to adidas schools. It was illegal and people got charged. Is this legal now, this coordination between schools and private companies to essentially exceed the revenue share cap?

This article describes an “over-the-cap deal.” How do these high school deals from Nike help the colleges recruit a player if the deals are independent of the college chosen by the player? Would and could Nike give money but only if the player attends a particular school? How are these NIL payments from Nike linked to a specific school?

Without having any real facts in the Nike vs. Addidas decision in regards to PSU......I doubt there is any real danger of Nike falling behind Addidas in college football.
It's an interesting discussion.
