Or they are following Knowles? Are we assuming they asked for more money than PSU was willing to pay them? Or is there evidence? Should we assume that all the Iowa St guys coming to PSU got paid the most from PSU and they are all money hungry? That seems a bit presumptuous, right? They are probably just following the coach that recruited them and coached them, Campbell, right? Maybe we, as a fanbase, should stop with the double standard and stop throwing stones in glass houses?
you must be new here

That's one excellent player (Campbell), one improving player (Gilliam), and one athletic & potentially excellent player (Coleman) from PSU's 2025 defense. Be interesting to see how they blend with UT's existing talent and if they can form a dominant defense.

I hope the Vols know what they are getting themselves into with Knowles and his complicated defense.

I said it at the time, but I think it’s foolish to expect a player to be “guaranteed” a starting spot at a Power 4 team unless the guy is a proven stud. Grunk will likely need to earn his spot to start.
You need to gauge the noise to content ratio of the idiot who was pushing the guarantee narrative. Sh*t Franklin did not guarantee Grunk a starting position and he has seen him for two years.

There has not been an announcement that Grunk signed at VT. Does he return to PSU as the backup on 2026 and starter in 2027?
That ship has sailed long ago. Penn State has three QBs committed; two in Campbell's system and an incoming freshman. They have much bigger fish to fry for 2027.

Yep.
Can we stop with this "can't run from competition"?
Becht was starting in 2026--period
I fully undetstand Becht is the 26 starter. @ PSU. Not disputing that. Just saying he could have stuck around and competed for 2027 at PSU. Now he is required to compete for 2026 since they brought in another QB and he's going to be in an offense that doesn't exactly ft his skill set.

But he wants to at least have a shot to start in 2026--having a chance to start is way better than not
He needed to leave--Va Tech was just a horrible decision because of the scheme

Sure. And I get it either way Becht coming in. But your statement is correct - he left in order to have a chance to start in 2026 which was essentially not possible at PSU. He didn’t leave to walk into a situation where he would be automatically the starter.

Isu qb ran more than psu. What makes you think isu offense fits grunk's skillset?

We don't know what was initially communicated to him by the VT staff either way (guarantee or compete). Remember CJF is the one who constantly said there were QB competitions at PSU and I never believed that to be true. He had his choices and stuck with them.

Becht is certainly a better runner but their passing game extended the field much more than PSU and Grunk is really sound/accurate with his long passes, able to hit receivers in stride. I think the new offense at PSU us a better fit. As some have said, he still might be looking around, has not signed yet.

I don't think either offense is a great fit for him. Grunk is truly a pocket passer--he doesn't want to run at all. Now the offense coming to Penn State would work better than what Franklin wants to do but he'd have been dumb for staying just like he'd be dumb for going to Va Tech,

He'd be smart if he'd even be willing to go to a G5 program for a year then move up. Just go somewhere to play that runs a pro style offense or is willing to.

G5 might work out.
