Sorry, I posted that update in the wrong thread. He won 3-1 and will compete for gold alongside Henckel tomorrow.
It seems like the kiss of death for USA wrestlers is when we try and protect a lead..
Bad flashbacks of Zain forcing that gut wrench
HUGE challenge here at 92kg, could be the difference for Connor getting pulled back into repechage or not
Penn State redshirt freshman Connor Mirasola is back in the mix for a medal. He'll compete in repechage first for a chance to wrestle for bronze on Tuesday.
Jafarli doesn’t do much to initiate, but obviously very strong and super crafty in counters. I can see how he was a bad matchup for Connor. Hopefully we see a reversal of fortune this year.
There will be three matches first on Mat A before Cole Mirasola goes for bronze and one on Mat B before PJ Duke goes for gold:

Malik has come out of nowhere and looks amazing this tournament
65: Stanich (USA) vs Uchida (JAP)
Uchida has looked real good coming into this tournament an unknown but Stanich has run the gauntlet so far to get here
79:Henckel vs Yousefi
Henckel has looked good but a little sloppy, Yousefi is wrestling great and won some tough ones already
92: Poyonov vs Kurugliev
Poyonov looks like a world beater so far but Kurugliev has pulled off some tough wins this should be a great final

That 79KG Iranian is friggin tough. If Henckel beats him, you could probably go ahead and say PSU has the two best 174 pounders in the nation next year.
Goes without saying but, this is a wild back and forth match:
7-5 Duke. Wins gold!!! That was a hell of a match.
Then Duke most likely wins 6-5, right?
