I only know Beamer as a poster and to me, he seems like the best kind of person, and I make it a point to give him the thumbs up emojis; but I wasn't sure how to respond when he said "East Rutherford at 9 is wack."

It was the wack part that threw me, in that I didn't exactly know what it meant, but since I know and truly like Big Red Cav, who has a very close connection to the team, and too, I do not care to have a large man from up in the country, in overalls, taking hold of my pencil-neck with one of his catcher's mitt hands, I thought it best to do a little research.

Frankly, sometimes I feel like I'm a somewhat, contemporary type of an old man who is a step ahead of the game, then I realize that I can't even speak the language, anymore, and begin to feel like a - - - - - - - anachronism.

Ok I can empathize with the old man part but…
What the heck is an anachronism?
Ain’t that a movie with Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube?

LOL, my friend, it’s always good to hear from you. Hope all is well with you and yours…About the anachronism, it’s something from the distant past who is forever lost in modern times (me),Course, I know you know that…Got to say, I like the people. It’s just that I can’t decipher some of the words, expressions, and music. There are some things I miss about the last century.

Thought about you, today. Saw where GrizzlyDevil, has got you at the top of a bracket in the eastern division. I do so wish your Wildcats all the best. Speaking of GrizzlyDevil, He’s a young professional guy, but him I can understand. Don’t tell anybody that he’s from Maiden . They’re only 8 miles up the road. Actually, I think he might have been in our stadium, Friday night, maybe. I’ll be keeping up with the cats when the playoffs begin. Saw where you’re off this week. Lincolnton is in Cramerton (next to Belmont and across the river from Charlotte).

Heritage getting wins over Robbinsville and Pisgah really helped their RPI because both of those teams have good records

So MA is #1 RPI and 5-2 playing #1 SOS and everyone has wrote them off! They are not as deep and talented as years past but have a lot of speed and are still very physical with one of best rb in state. Oh and now have a passing game to go with the run. had 220 yards passing Friday. Win State no but play in 4th rd or west finals its very possible. Losing #12 will hurt though.

When you decipher the music I’ll be like Uncle Jed “Some day I’ve gotta have a looong talk with that boy…”
Glad Lincolnton is having success this season. Let’s you contribute more often to this digital playground.
As I’ve said many times you’re a fine man. Just support a team that plays in the coldest place on earth…
Now if you can get that high school to be a player in baseball we could really have some fun…
Dang it. Now I’m thinking about Cherryville legion again…

If you think our place is cold, try Mountain Heritage late in the playoffs.

Yes, I can think of a few places up here in the mountains that would get far chillier and windier than Lincolnton. A good late fall breeze blowing down the Pigeon River can make Pisgah’s field nice and cool.

Nice, Thomasville could possibly have a revenge game against WD depending on the first round. Walkertown and North Stanly will be tough.

As far as the cold, here, we have a lot of water around the stadium and it’s always damp. It comes through the clothes. Sort of sneaks up on you.
Some years back one of the mountain posters told me the only way to handle it was with layers, and it seems to work. Wish I’d have known it fifty years ago and I wouldn’t have been froze numb so many times.
I live in that area, and you can feel the dampness, even in the summer… It’s really peculiar. LOL my cousin who grumbles a lot, says it’s so cold there because of that areas bloody history, and the graves around the stadium.

Her husband was talking to me about the game and happened to ask if it got chilly, Friday night. Told him it did enough to notice it after the game. She overheard the conversation and said, "It's cold because of all the blood and all the graves." She definitely has a way of telling things.
What she is speaking of was a Revolutionary War battle between Militias, small in comparison to others, but I have heard it was pretty nasty. Some of the officers graves are marked but there is a fairly large common grave for soldiers who weren't claimed, across the street behind the press box.

Well Mr. Lincolnton I goggled “wack” because I wasn’t sure the meaning either. LOL

"wack" primarily means something that is bad, inferior, or poor quality. It can also mean unusual, crazy, or odd.

this non-conference schedule was sort of “best coach could find.” McDowell was on schedule, but new coach said “No, we not playing ya.” I forget who else bailed, but I sort of like “wack”. As far as the second part of definition “unusual, crazy or odd.” … I broke out the overalls last week, put the flip flops back in the closet decided to cover the toes (hoping cooler weather would prevail). Them folks at East still think I’m unusual somewhat crazy and a little odd, but when u raised up in upper Cleveland County and all you know is Cleveland County football you do sorta stand out (against the regular folk).

East will be fine entering the playoffs at #8 or #9, numbers don’t concern me it “Lions and “Wolves” Them four legged creatures are rough. East has installed a “Snake?” formation.? I was like “Gotta see this, I’m hearing about.” I got me a lip full of “backer”watched a tidbit”””and I’m still trying to figure out if there’s a “Still up there in them Eastern Hills”, That coach has lost his mind, I know he don’t drink, but Lord have mercy, I’m to old school for this new stuff.
All I can see is “Lions and Wolves” In the horizon, and East got a snake ??.. I think they been in that “Jungle” training or coach found some “Jungle juice”.. Them dirt roads in CASAR, ain’t where he found this snake .

Bless you, my friend. It’s good to hear from you. Don’t think I ever heard of this snake offense, either, but the coach knows what he’s doing. How well I remember last season when you were feeling good about the Cavaliers chances against Reidsville; and I doubt that too many people took you seriously, but we all know what happened, then, don’t we.

‘About the people up at East who think you’re a little odd, let them think what they will, as long as they’re good to you…I wish they knew what a noble upstanding person you actually are.

Thank you for educating me on what “wack” meant. One thing I knew for sure, No way was I going to say anything negative about your team, for a number of reasons, and too, we might have to play them and I wouldn’t want them coming here all mad and fired up. Course, they will probably be that, anyway.

A little trivia: I’m guessing, that East Rutherford High School was founded in the very early 60’s. My first memory wasn’t long after that when they beat a good Lincolnton team in OT…They had really nice uniforms, for that time, and had EAST on the fronts of their jerseys. Recall asking my Father what a Cavalier was. He had got off from work and was sitting there in his baggy drawers and t-shirt listening to the Charlotte Hornets (Baseball team) play. He looked off in the distance like he was about to recite Shakespeare, and said, “It’s a light fixture.”

I can see the snuff drool emanating as you are typing this you gigantic rascal you.... You are some of them ole Pruett Road gang for the longest, I crossed over in there a time or two from the Ankle, and to be honest even though I have lived in the north end since 1997, I still get that "You aint from around here are you " look.

Speaking of toes, do you still have T.G.I.F written in marker on tops of your shoes to remind you "TOES GO IN FIRST" :)

I laughed WAY to hard at this one... well done sir
Shelby Lion, Last Friday, before the game, I wondered if you would be able to make it or if you had other responsibilities. Also wondered if you would use this street in front of my house to go into the stadium. Thought I might get you to stop for a minute. Last time You were here my Mother shook your hand, like ladies do, and said “Come back, honey.” So you’re always welcome here.

“Shelby Lion ?? Responsibilities ??

other responsibilities??… like trying to figure out if he has Pop-tarts in the cabinet. Or milk that’s not clabbered for his fruit loops.

Shelby Lion got kicked out of the city, and ran towards the mountains, got tripped up in Dirty Ankle and decided to stay. Yet he’s going to talk about my toes ??… I’d invite him to a game but lord knows somebody might say we were kin, both in overalls… (but his snuff don’t drip out both sides of that mouth).

Lincolnton I will be at the playoff game, not sure who will be playing but I’d put money one of the 3 teams will be there come finals. Crazy we representing three different counties of football, do they still play football east of Charlotte ??

holla back ole Shelby Lion, or better yet stop by on your way to town. Only one red light between us … remember the red one means stop !!… dummy

Baseball is rebuilding slowly. Attendance lines keep other teams well-stocked, then kids follow their friends to greener pastures. We should be pretty interesting this year.

Of course his snuff doesn’t. I don’t think anyone would describe him as “Levelheaded”. 🤣🤣

Back in the old times in the mountains, I always heard that men looked for a good woman that had snuff in both corners of her mouth because they made “levelheaded” wives.
