Any info?

East Lincoln- crowned 3A Champs, but they lose alot. Don't think they will win at all 2023

Statesville- what do they have for 2023? Usually their the program to watch out for every year.

West Iredell- they should improve. They have alot returning

North Iredell- they should improve from previous years

Hickory- they could be favored to win the Conference

North Lincoln- don't have a clue to what they have for 2023.

ST Stephens- don't have a clue

Fred T Foard- will they win a game anytime soon?

Conference 51?…let’s call it Area 51😂…when it comes to ALL sports!

football (State champs Mustangs)
wrestling (State Champs Foard - St. Stephens)
basketball (Hickory boys - East Lincoln girls)
baseball (pert near all of ‘em)

etc. etc.

I’ll take Hickory in the fall to win the “Western Foothills” conference.

East Lincoln, Statesville, North Lincoln will be right there with them though….you can bank on that!😉

I expect Statesville and East Lincoln to battle as conference Champs.

A team you may want to keep an eye on is West Iredell. They may have the best athlete in the conference in 6'2 180 sophomore Xavier Peet. JV team was very competitive. 8th grade middle school went undefeated. Wouldn't surprise me to see West upset 1 on the top 3.

Statesville biggest problem last year was their offense. The Crest game really highlighted alot of deficiencies in their offense. Offense was very vanilla really not hard to defend. I'm hoping their Offense is a little more potent. Real passing concepts!!!!!!

East Lincoln is the standard. Very impressed with their coaching staff especially defensively.

last question
When is the last time Hickory defeated Statesville on the field. Series got to be severely lopsided in Statesville's favor. This game uses to be one of the best games to see. Last year was awesome. Hope it can regain the competitive balance it once did

2013 ; Since 2004 - 12-5-1 Statesville Leads; Hickory won First 4 meetings 04-07 and from 2014 to Present Statesville has won

West Iredell should contest for 4th-5th realistically

East Lincoln won this past season and the season before statesville was the best team Dudley faced on their way to winning. Some of the other conferences just talk and hype themselves up the most. I expect someone from this conference to be a tough out yet again this year.

West Iredell is the most interesting team to watch this year. If Nick Bazzle's son continues to improve that program form last year, it could be as high as 4th. They had no JV team before last year. And last year there were record numbers out for JV and Varsity. He's doing a silent job out there west of Statesville.

West Iredell has under achieved for the longest so I’m always rooting for them to do well I agree w/ 4th place is their highest potential but Really 4th place is one that battled for as to me the top 3 are the same year in n out (NL, EL, Statesville) - Hickory may have something to say about that too as they improved as well

Offense needs to get out of the Alexander Central offense and get back to more of a modern 3-4 WR spread attack. They have real tall, long, athletic athletes. Hopefully they get it together. I like their program. I think the top 5 (EL,Statesville,NL,WI,Hickory) will all be very good this year. Expecting a more competitive league this year

This conference as a whole everyone should be better imo esp West and North Iredell so should be a very competitive year

1. Statesville
2. East Lincoln
3.Hickory
4. North Iredell
5. North Lincoln
6. St Stephens
7. Foard
8. West Iredell

4-8 are flipable as it’s a competitive conference and Top 2 to me are only ones to stay same as 3rd spot is toss up as any team could get it but hickory is my pick to move up to 3rd

Cant argue about 1-2. STATESVILLE LOOKS GOOOOOD! Coach Cowan got something here. Statesville is looking really good this spring coming into summer. Easily see 10-0, or 9-1 type regular season. EL is the champs and brings back one of the best backs in the state. Only difference I see is 3rd. Still see West Iredell going 3rd, Hickory 4th. Rumor is former Statesville's all-time great Head Coach Gusler and DC Coach Stewart will be at West Iredell this year, if true this is HUGE for West, getting 2 successful veteran coaches, that know the city of Statesville in and out and both have a track record of being successful. Could West make a move over Statesville, East Lincoln, or Hickory. They very well could. Man I wish we had spring football like they have it in SC. Area 51 is about to become an interesting conference.

I see N. Iredell is in progress of getting new artificial turf. Field is tore up now. But want be long until they have it ready. It be interesting to see how long S. Iredell will get one.

West Iredell is next in line for turf in 2024. I believe South follows in 2025.

I haven’t heard that - From what I was told the other schools weren’t getting it until later down the line but North got it first n made sure it was complete bc issue is Idk if they will get everyone turf done now since they had to raised another 90K to get the New HS open so - This what I was told by 2 coaches

If I had bet if they do allow all team get turf I bet other schools will have wait a few yrs so they get $ allotted but I could be wrong. So idk what the plan after this bc like I said with additional $ they had get for new school idk if n when they could do the turf and no one knew the rotation of the process of who get it next

My dark horse in this conference is Hickory. I believe that Hickory finishes top 3. If the Red Tornados can build some early season confidence that will bode well for their overall season. The other two teams on my top three are Statesville and EL. The Greyhounds because of athleticism and EL just because their coaching is elite. I can’t say who wins the conference however. I still think Statesville will benefit from a non-conf schedule upgrade. West Iredell is interesting. I think those guys take a leap up and I am curious if they are able to get more athletes in their football program with the coaches they have now.

For me - Hickory OL will be the ? For them - They got the skilled guys tho so
