No, not Mullen

He'll have to have several years of doing worse than that to be on the hot seat. The assistants though ... possibly.

Who do you think we are? If Mullen is here 10 years and he simply goes bowling 8 of those years, he's the best coach in our history.

He's already matched last season's win total. Don't forget, we had a losing record going into the Egg Bowl.

Mullen will have to do something illegal or unethical or create a Nutt-style dumpster fire to ever be on the hot seat here.

This is whats wrong with the fanbase now. This is the most accepting of mediocrity of a fan base that Ive seen. If Mullen stay long enough he'll coach his way out of Starkville. If he's smart he'll take to Texas job and run.

I don't usually post.. But I have to say something.

1) stop referring to yourself in the third person. That's a dead giveaway that you are probably a 5"9' bald fat guy that still lives in his mom's basement and needs to pump his self-esteem up on the Internet

2) Texas will go for a VERY proven commodity because they are Texas. Mullen would need to win out AND hope the Texas job stay occupied by Mack for another year or two AND he would need to win 10 next year and maybe even one other year.

3) What does the fan base have to do with how players play? You're saying if we change our attitude and no longer accept being happy just going to a bowl game every year, then our player will magically turn into 4 and 5*s? Stupid logic. You win 10 games, capitalize on that in recruiting, and hope for sustained success.

Stop referring to yourself as legend because it makes you look like a loser.

He's not going to finish 7-5. We will AT LEAST beat Arkansas at home. I think we've got a great shot to win this weekend, and we should be favored in the Egg Bowl.

I wouldn't say our fan base is too accepting of mediocrity. We did nudge Polk and Stansbury out the door, the winningest coaches in their respective sports.

Mullen is fine.

Wrong. We have won seven games mostly because of our offense and their ability to get in the endzone when we needed it. Now on defense, we got problems!

For the love of mike....WE HAVE ONE LOSS

We will not lose out, end of discusssion. This is the kind of crap we have to deal with after a loss to a GOOD Bama team. Geeezzzz

I cannot believe that winning 2 conference games and winning all of State's current non-conference games (with such an easy schedule now) is adequate. That's is funny, because you told me when Croom was fired that a losing SEC record was not acceptable to remain as coach. I guess now it is, which proves the original poster's point that the standards at MSU are pretty low. With our current talent level (as of this year, next year it gets worse overall), we should never lose those non-conference games, and with the Kentucky as down as it is, 2 SEC wins are almost guaranteed every year with KY always on the schedule. But 2-6 in the SEC is always acceptable? Croom got fired for the same after going 4-4 in the SEC the year before.
Now, I agree that this is way, way premature, and likely from an Ole Miss fan, because no one believes that MSU will lose its next four games. We will be favored against Arkansas and Ole Miss, only a slight underdog to Texas A&M, and who knows with LSU. We will be an underdog, but let's face it, LSU's offense is so bad that they are beatable by any talented team on any given Saturday.

Croom coached in a much different SEC West than Mullen has faced. LSU was stout I think, but the rest were very beatable. In fact, Croom beat Auburn and Alabama with teams that our current team would beat by 30. Hard to compare those if you ask me.

To hell with job security. If coach Mullen comes to the conclusion that 6 to 8 wins is the best he can do at MSU, he will leave without being shown the door.

What is this guy talking about? Was he not here when Croom was losing every game. Having said that, I know Croom did do some good things at State, after Sherrills mess also. But Mullen has come and turn this program around. He's pumped the fan base up. We have a new practice facility and we are going to add to our stadium. He's starting to get good recruits. (Ranked 20th last year and currently ranked 19th this year according to scout) It's not going to happen overnight. It takes time to build a program, especially the condition it was when he took over. The legend is obviously doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. I think we will at least win 9 games this year with a good chance to win more. Hell if Mullen can get the recruits, who knows how far we will go. I'm very optimistic about Mullen. If you can't see that, your either a troll or blind.
