I wouldn't be so sure. I hope so, but Polk is dangerous .
I think the interesting thing will be how does Mitchell come out after the bye.
I don't think Mitchell will come out flat they've been though byes before they have good coaches that know how to get them ready. It's hard to beat a good team twice ,but I believe Mitchell can beat them again but I also believe even if they do it could be a closer game then last. Polk was having a good drive being of the 3rd until a 15 yard penalty but after that they couldn't get traction but showed they could move the ball. Plus thier coach has have plenty of time to make adjustments from the first game.
Well that is true. Though that was 2017 not last year and that wasn't the game.after the bye but the 3rd game they played that year in the playoffs and for the regional championship. I was referring to.coming out flat because of having a bye and not playing a week. That Cherokee game I believe they were over confident, hopefully they have learned that lesson from that game

It was last year and yall had 2 weeks off...1sr week was makeup hurricane games.....I know yall played in 3rd round. Year before. I go to all cherokee playoff games if they are good....I'm affraid I might have to wait awhile before I see another one haha
He's right old mountaineer. We played Cherokee in the 2nd round last year after 2 bye weeks. Cold, rainy ugly mess all night. Mitchell never trailed, but never pulled away either. I think the final was 21-13. Cherokee played way above their level that night.
You're both right , I had the losing game on my mind. Hopefully one week wait won't be as bad as a three weeks wait, last game on the 2nd this one on the 23rd. That was a miserable second half the rain turned into ice when it hit my umbrella.

Mitchell wins big and advances to finals where they come to Surry County and try and I hope beat East Surry
I fully expect this to be the game that I was expecting the first time. Close hard hitting game that comes down to the final possession. Hard to beat a team twice.

After talking with some of the guys last night the team is excited to play Mitchell again. I was thinking a big part of this game would be how Polk handles the first loss... would they have the memory of the loss and think well dang we got whipped 1 time gonna get whipped again or that was freakin embarrassing and we want pay back ? Well the Wolverines want PAY BACK !!!! Yes we got embarrassed at our house... on our field and they are gonna return the favor

they gonna return the favor. Wow. I do think it’ll be closer. It’s not a good playoff system when for second round opponents you get conference foes again. Heritage 1seed plays Owen. Mitchell 2seed gets Polk. Maybe we should have a system where starmounts and averys don’t get in. Where if you stunk in the regular season you’re out of the playoffs. It would make for better games, bigger games and less playing the same team twice. Smc basically plays a conference tournament in little 1a most years.
Money is the driving factor. At least 1A and 4A is down to 24 total teams which helps somewhat. Back before the split to big and small was the best playoff fields but then a lot of the smaller schools wines and complained about never making the dance. Today’s current playoff system is a combination of the almighty dollar driving the engine and the everybody needs to feel important and get a trophy society. It sucks playing conference opponents at any point in the playoffs, especially if it’s a dangerous team who uses the regular season matchup as motivation for the post season one, ie; Polk.[/QUOTE]
the only thing I'm going to say is it's gonna be a lot better game than the last meeting , but I'm not going to predict a winner or scored !
This game should be a dandy I bet coach Ollis will have his team very well prepared. Im expecting it to come down to line play, but for now with home field ill give the Mountaineers the upper hand. Mitchell 34 Polk 21
