As for the game Friday, my friends and I haven't decided where we are going. Odds are we will be at the ND/East game or the Havelock/WA game.

Your exactly right.SP didn't complete a pass in first game and we never heard the gun go off.You do not have to pass to beat us.Shelby will have to show up with the will and passion as they did in second SP game to win.
Hibriten is not South Point. Hibriten will have to complete a pass against Shelby in order to win.
It's not what they do. Shelby rarely passed for 80 years and was very successful. Just do what you do, and do it well.

I also want Coach Lewis to get the opportunity to play for a State Championship and for Coach Cannon to carry greater sense of pride for a program he began to build.

I know most of these ball players on Hibriten, they are a GREAT group of young men! Most are friends with my son and many come to my home. He is chomping at the bit to get basketball season going, as he does not play football. I do know that most of these young men have a bad taste from last year and do NOT want to repeat that performance. I believe this team is better in all phases of the game. Don't let the Newton-Conover performance fool you, that was a stinker of a game for Hibriten. We should have won that game 34 to 17, easily. We gave the ball away at least 4 times and still pulled out the win! Underestimate these young fellows at your own peril! I fully expect this Panthers team to bring home the Championship!!!
For all the Shelby fans that wanna throw up the Newton Conover game, here's you some food for thought....... Shelby struggled with Mt. Pleasant only winning 7-0. That's the same Mt. Pleasant that lost to JM Robinson which Hibriten plastered 33-6. Mt. Pleasant also only beat Fred T Foard 28-14, the same Fred T Foard Hibriten embarrassed 50-6......

Hibriten may ram it down Shelby s throat but I don't buy into the strong Hibriten D ! 7 or 8 teams Hibriten played was horrendous and that is where the shutouts come from . Really terrible teams with the exception of JMO Robinson ( which at the time they played Hibriten ) had injuries to key players , Played Newton to a 1 point win ( which Newton should have won ) and Franklin . I really don't see much competition Hibriten has played yet . Good luck to both teams and let this be a great Western Finals game and the winner represents the West well .
Our conference in 97 with West Lincoln, Cherryville and Bessemer City was bad too. We blowed those teams off the map and we made it to the state. If your good, your good.
Having saw both teams play..the field will be full of athletes..i think Shelby playing SP twice will help them..i see a very low scoring game...it will be interesting to see hibriten offense against equal speed...but make no mistake the hibriten D Is legit...super fast and more physical than typical teams from that area..imo Shelbys big game experience and having #44 Will be the differnce...no disrespect to hibriten..super solid team..and very young actually...ill call for Shelby 17-14..but could go either way...if you like fast physical defense head to Lenoir on Friday
....that's the same JM Robinson that Shelby plastered 42-7 in only 2 quarters.....
What a scrimmage? Isn't that the same JM Robinson who beat kings Mt. Last week? One of the games i watched this year was the Shelby/Kings Mountain game and Shelby was damn lucky to win that one in OT! Kings Mt. Outplayed you guys

Scrimmage and a real game are two different things. Hibriten moved ball and scored on SP 2 or 3 times in a 30 min scrimmage a season ago. Regular season finale hibriten couldn’t gain a yard.
You can argue and compare scores all day long and regardless it will be settled on the field Friday night. A turnover or special teams will decide this one and I think overtime may even come into play. Don't be surprised after 48 minutes they end in a 7-7 tie and play it out from 10 yards out
Turnovers may play a role if Hibriten has a bunch of them again, but what is going to decide this game is Shelby's defensive game plan and Shelby's athleticism and speed on offense matching Hibriten's on defense.
LOL 2 cents, These teams are virtually even athletically, Hibriten may even be more athletic. The one thing I give an advantage to Shelby is they've been more battle tested. I will say this however, if Malik's high ankle sprain slows him any at all it may be a long ride down 18 for those Shelby fans because Hibriten will get to him quickly, bank on that. I think both teams will struggle to score
Hibriten isn't more athletic, but I said Shelby would match the athleticism Hibriten has on defense, something the vast majority of teams Hibriten has played so far couldn't do.
And I don't see a low scoring game. It could happened but I think what is more likely to happen is something similar to the South Point game last year for Hibriten. Shelby will get their scores and Hibriten will probably get a score or two.

I have seen both teams and Hibriten is at the least evenly matched athletically and maybe slightly more. If Hibriten doesn't beat themselves they can and will win this game
Shelby only scored 7 points last week and Hibriten has a better defense than Mt Pleasant

Im not sure which game you were watching Daletec but in no shape, form, or fashion could you have easily beat Newton Conover 34-17. In reality if their coach kept his foot on the gas then they should have beaten Hibriten by that score. Realtalk they dominated Hibriten and led 95% of the game. NC's coach called some bone headed plays to lose it for them. Hibriten may have played terrible and had a few turnovers. NC caused the turnovers and had a hand in Hibriten playing terrible. Im a Hibriten fan..but you're definitely off base with your analysis of the NC/ Hibriten game. Im shocked NC coaches folded down the stretch and let Hibriten back in it. They dominated Hibriten that particular game, but they lost by 1.
Y'all? I'm not a Shelby fan Gregg. Like you, I've seen both teams play though and I am simply giving you my observations.
And you can focus on the Mt. Pleasant game all you want (while trying to tell Shelby fans not to focus on the Newton Conover game lol), but I'm telling you, Shelby's offense will test Hibriten's defense like no other team has this year.
You don't really sound like a Hibriten fan to me, Hibriten played a horrible first half and two of the turnovers were unforced. For the most part Hibriten controlled the second half but still made mistakes and the play calling was suspect. That game was probably a wake up call kinda like Shelby had last week
On another thread, a poster thought I was a North Davidson fan because I was giving them some props.
But if you need to know, my team is in SC, Summerville High School. I'm just giving my opinion based on what I've seen this year when it comes to this game.

Hibriten does not have a better defense... No team has held Shelby under 7 but south pointe. If you guys come close hats off .
The NC game was long ago, the Mt Pleasant gam e was last week. I have seen 3 Hibriten games and two Shelby games. I feel the teams are evenly matched while you're on that golden lion bandwagon! Your assessment is far from fair or unbiased
Mt Pleasant held you to 7 last week and they are not as good as what you'll face this week

Well then, believe what you want. I am not on the Shelby bandwagon. I respect what Shelby does year in and year out but I agree they are beatable this year. I think if North Davidson wins Friday night, they might have something for Shelby in the state championship.
However, from what I've seen, I just don't believe Hibriten has the pieces to beat Shelby. If they do, I'll tip my hat to 'em though.
