They have two thousand yard plus backs and a passing game. Should be a good challenge for us to face a diverse attack. On the negative side they are giving up over thirty points a game.
There's really not much to say. They have a very limited strength of schedule most years, so any bit of improvement can make a big difference in the record book. The best teams they faced this year were Princeton and Rosewood and their offense got choked out. I don't expect much of a game.
Eastern football is tarboro vs a bunch of Hayesville caliber teams
The team in purple and canary yellow will put the beat down on them. This game is over as soon as the first points go on the board.

I watched y’all play Pamlico last year. If Pamlico put up 28 points Edenton would score 40+
Edentons good. I think Robbinsville would beat them. Y’all are pretty much the class of 1a and I think tarboro could win the 2a championship most years. What the East doesn’t have is Murphy, swain, Robbinsville, Mitchell, East Surry. Those teams are really good 1a teams. Y’all have one monster and maybe another solid team.
Edenton has only lost 4 games over the last 3 years. I would say that’s a monster.
Just curious why you think Edenton Holmes is not in the category of the teams you just listed.
Agreed Tarboro is in a class of their own in the East with Edenton a very good 1A team after that the fall off is ridiculous the West is way deeper with their amount of teams that can compete.
East Surry is the only team that can give Tarboro a game unless Tarboro self implodes with turnovers and penalties. I watched them play SWE this year. They walk on the field with swagger, they don't think they're gonna beat you, they know it. Hell, they had the ball on the tee ready to kick off before our marching band had even started to march off the field. Hurts me to say it, but it is what it is.
Tarboro is one of the few teams that stay focused, no matter how many games they win. You really wont beat them mentally, you have to do it physically. And that is impressive, considering they are teenagers.
Are we talking about just this year or are we talking about consistent competition year after year? It feels like this is a discussion about depth year after year from certain teams. Murphy...yep. Swain...yep. Robbinsville...sure. Mitchell...since Coach Pitman took over...absolutely. East Surry? They broke through last year perhaps a little prematurely. North Stanly was a more fitting West champion last year, but you have to draw the line somewhere. Over the last 10 years, East Surry has struggled just to reach the 3rd round. While its pretty obvious this year's team is flying high, they are peaking at the end of this year. Next year, they will go right back to struggling to get out of the 2nd or 3rd round again. Mount Airy is the consistent power in the Northwest 1A and will return to their throne next year.
In short, the argument is absolutely on point. The West in football is deeper and more consistent in terms of competition year after year. The East just doesn't have the strength that the West has...IN FOOTBALL. I think that's the disappointing part of Tarboro's numbers falling to the levels they have. Tarboro's football program would be much more competitive on the 2A level, but trust me when I tell you the rest of Tarboro's athletic programs are correctly placed in 1A. What would be nice to see is some of these East teams step up, but show me a 1A program that has kept the same head coach for 15 years? It's hard to build consistency and tradition without having to keep starting over again and again.
Not East teams...Absolutely makes the point. Even Holmes, the most consistent 1A football program in the East not named Tarboro has had 3 head coaches in the last 15 years.
Actually, Edenton has had 4 in the last 15 years. Bob Turner, Jim Collins, Wes Mattera, and Paul Hoggard.
That was a good year also. Made it to third round as I recall and got beat by a very good Clinton team.
Yep. That was the year of the three-headed monster in the backfield: Trey’el Beasley, Cordareous Pierce, and Mike Dixon.
If I am not mistaken all three rushed for over 1,500 yards that year.
Our (NWC) last place team North Stokes beat Hobbton 32-28 in week 6 non-conference and was the week before their conference game that they lost to Mount Airy 49-00 and East Surry beat them 63-07. Both could have laid more points pulled their starters after the half. So Tarboro will do as MA did and have a running clock by halftime and win by whatever they want.
